I am the searing pain in the harpooned flesh Of the silent whale; I am the bursting heart Of the hunted stag, The fear in the darting eyes of primates Strapped to the vivisectionist’s chair, The squealing pig half stunned And yanked by his rear hoof Onto the moving belt of death; I am the frog left dying Limbs ripped off On a mound of dead and dying forms; I am the frightened, thirsty, herded cows Imprisoned in a roaring cattle truck; The de-beaked hens crammed In a tight,harsh convenient cage. stifle with my helpless friends; feel no breeze; see no sun; fear each ignominious end!
