And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory. (2 Samuel 23:11-12) I want to use this scripture today to encourage each and every one of you to be all God has called you to be and to stand your ground when the enemy attacks. When the Philistines(Satan) attacked the “people fled” they ran and tucked their tail between their legs like a sorry dog and ran away, cowards. They let the enemy win and we are not told how many times before that this happened and I do not speculate when I read the Word of God, for Speculation leads to unbelief and heresy in most casaes. I do however feel that it may have been more than once, it quite possibly was a yearly thing and every harvest the same thing would be grown and the same thing would be stolen and or taken from them. On this next event however, the Philistines went down to get their peas(lentils) and to take over the pea patch and on this occasion they met Shammah, they met a MAN who stood his ground and stood for the cause of God and said to the enemy, “You will have to fight me to get it” and “you will have to fight God” and beat Him to win, I am not leaving again. He was aman led by God that trusted God that the Spirit of God had gotten to his heart and soul and he just plainly said I am not moving (Psalm 62:6).I can also share this with you, when he stood there he was empowered by the Holy Spirit(God’s Spirit) as the Holy Spirit had not been introduced as of yet, but as the three in one and one in three He was there. Shammah also in a spiritual manner had put on the armor of God.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:11-17) Even though this scripture was written much later, he had on God’s armor, better yet he had on God’s clothes, for when you put on the armor of God in essence you are wearing His clothing and when the enemy sees you, he thinks you are God… Praise His Name! When you are dressed in God’s armor, Satan cannot see that it is you in a sense, he sees God’s clothes, he see’s God! He stands there and says hey, it looksa like Him, it walks like Him, it has His Shield, His breastplate, His shoes….it must be Him. Friends when you are surrounded by God and His Spirit, you are
enveloped, covered by the Blood of the lamb Christ Jesus. Do you feel what I am saying to you, do you sense the thought process of the Spirit? When you walk, talk, eat, sleep, drink, drive, listen to, speak Jesus, you become more like Him and when you put on His Armor you (SPIRITUALLY) are like Him so that the enemy does not see a weak frail human, for we can never do it on our own, we can never defeat Satan, that was done by Christ! Through Christ, because of what Christ has done we are men of valor just as Adino who slew 800 men at one time, it was nothing he did but it was all because of Christ(God) and what He can do with or through a single individual who dares to stand their ground in His name and not move. Stand your ground today, stand it for sickness, for epilepsy, for ulcers, for arthritis, broken bones, for your spiritual walk, for sin, for smoking, for being what you should be and quit being an intimidated weak and pathetic human being that has mouth service only when others are around, but when the test comes and you are alone you fall on your face and shame God in the process. GET UP, STAND AND DO NOT MOVE! Be a Shammah!
