An Entrepreneur’s Failing Experience and How He Solved It For every entrepreneur will always have ups and downs, we can almost conclude that every hawker will also had a hard time in their working experience. As a student of SBM ITB, I was assigned to interview one entrepreneur for his failing experience. So based on my theory above, I interviewed one food hawker named Ahmad Suluri as my interviewee, and here is the result. Ahmad Suluri (43) has been working as a “tukang nasi mie goreng” for the past 7 years. He opened his shop for the first time in front of his house. He was happy at first because demands kept rising, but two years later many competitors come and attracted Ahmad’s consumers. He was frustrated, then he heard there is a street filled with boarding houses. He saw this as an opportunity, and so he moved to Jl. Tubagus Ismail Raya. But his problem didn’t stop there as in Jl. Tubagus Ismail Raya was filled with many hawkers who sold identical foods, and because Ahmad was a newcomer, Consumers don’t recognize him. So, Ahmad decided to move into Jl. Tubagus Ismail 6 in front of one boarding home which got a lot of tenants. Since then he found his place to stay, and he can sell around 60 to 70 dishes per day. In conclusion, entrepreneurs will always face threats and problems, but we must never surrender to fate, in turn we must find a way to turn the odds to our favor.
