All you need to know about sleeping positions to sleep better Good night-time sleeps are an important element of maintaining ones health. Sleep allows your body to rest and regain the energy lost during the day. Enough sleep has the potential to keep you happy and active. Many people around the world do not get the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep. They often develop weak immunity, frustrated behaviour and chronic laziness. No one wants to be “that guy” who is always sleepy and inactive. So, sleep awareness is essential among the adults. Sleeping positions are one such part of sleep awareness. There are some sleeping positions better than others for having quality sleeps. Some common sleeping positions There are some positions common between people all around the world. Some of them are beneficial while others are detrimental for your posture. 

Back sleep position - This position provides good support to your posture. People with back pain should sleep this way on a memory mattress for relief. Despite its benefits, this is one of the most neglected sleeping positions.



Side Sleeping – Adopted by large no. of people, this position is not very good for posture support but allows proper respiration during sleep.

Sleeping on your back with pillows – Lie down on your back, make yourself comfortable and place a pillow under your knees. This will level up your lower body with spine. Placing a pillow aligns your head, neck and spine with your hips and legs. It also allows proper passage of air through your respiratory system and reduces snoring problems.



Side sleeping with pillows – Sleep on your side as you normally would. Keep a pillow between your legs, near the knee area. Pillow does the work of aligning

your body by raising your upper leg. Place a firm pillow for better results. This eliminates the posture problems arising from sleeping on your side. 

Sleeping on your stomach with face down – Some people find it more comfortable to sleep on their stomachs. It should be kept in mind to keep your face down and not to the side. It gives proper rest to your neck. Use pillow under your forehead for easy breathing and correct head alignment.



Fetal sleep with pillow support – Fetal sleep is pretty harmful for your body. It can develop body pains but positioning a pillow between your knees and under your head works a little toward posture correction.

How sleeping positions can help you sleep better? Sleeping positions decide how you will feel physically in the morning. You may have observed pain in back or neck after waking up. This pain occurs due to wrong sleeping posture and it can be severe and chronic in the long run. A sleeping position can be good or bad for a person. If you have a snoring problem then sleeping on your side with pillow between your knees is best option. If you have back problems, try sleeping on your back the whole night with pillow under your knees. Doctors recommend the use of pillows in sleeping.
