INTERNSHIP WORK DESCRIPTION I have been working for six weeks at Alfalah from 21st July till 30 August as internee. My working hours were 9am till 5pm daily except Saturday which was half day. Every day the work started at 9am in branch after recitation of few verses of Holy Quran. It was a wonderful and learning experience for me at Alfalah. During six weeks of my internship I have been circulated in following departments. 

Account Opening department.

Bills and Remittances department.

Customer Services department.

1) Account Opening Department: My internship begins from account opening deptt. My supervisor over there was Miss. Nadia. Major task and activities I had learnt over there includes; 

Account opening and closing.

Bank Statement issuance and Cheque book issuance.

Working with VERISYS (NADRA verification system, a facility provided to all banks for individual identifications)

Preparation of daily account opening reports.

Preparation of packing list of whole day activity.

I have passed 14 days in this deptt. It was a good learning experience in that section. It was the department where you built customers for the bank. In other words it is the start of banking relationship with a customer. After four to five days I was capable of doing the

procedures of Account Opening. With the passage of time I had completely understand different types of procedures, requirements, regulation, and charges for cheque book issuance, bank statement issuance and get the know how of customer dealing. Being the student of finance I was always interested in the entries passed for various transactions. On 10th day I am able to prepare a packing list and daily report of account opening as well. 2) Customer Services Department: This was my second destination for work, where I have passed 7-8 days. It was the most tough and busy department of branch. It deals with direct customer dealing, established to resolve the queries, complaints and issues related to any walk in customer. Mail receiving, reporting, and customer calling was other related duties of this section. Slips for cash deposit, credit card payment, online fund transfer, cheque deposit receipt all are available at this desk. My instructor helps me a lot in learning the professional attitude in dealing with customers. She appreciated my work and also pinpoints the flaws time to time for correction. 3) Bills and Remittance department: This department deals with following duties; 

Preparation of Pay orders and demand drafts.

Receiving, posting and processing inward clearing.

Preparation of outward jotting.

Preparation of IBCA (inter branch credit advice).

Lodging of bank instruments in collection.

During my training at this department, I had learnt the way how pay orders and demand drafts are prepared. We daily received inward clearing which will be posted on system and recorded manually as well. I understand the entries passed for inward and outward

Clearing transactions. I had learnt about NIFT (National institute of fund transfer) who has been providing intermediary services to bank for clearing procedures.

SALES,CREDIT AND CASH DEPARTMENTS: I just visited these three departments time to time. Sales and Credit officers are mostly involved in outdoor activities for bringing more and more customers for bank. That’s why I had little interaction with them. On the other hand I am not allowed to visit cash department because of secrecy and sensitivity of this department. .However cash officer often discusses the procedures with me during lunch time that gives me information about the working of cash department.

CONCLUSION During my work, I was rotated in different departments of Bank Alfalah Ltd and I understood their operations and procedures. It will not be an exaggeration if, I say that the entire staff of the Bank Alfalah was extremely courteous, polite, co-operative, helpful, worth remembering in every sense. At the end I shall be very thankful to Alfalah for providing me this learning opportunity at their Taxila Branch. They really encourage my work spirit a lot.

God created God created the donkey and said to him. "You will be a donkey. You will work un-tiringly from sunrise to sunset carrying burdens on your back. You will eat grass, you will have no intelligence and you will live 50 years." The donkey answered: "I will be a donkey, but to live 50 years is much. Give me only 20 years" God granted his wish. ******* God created the dog and said to him: "You will guard the house of man. You will be his best Friend. You will eat the scraps that he gives you and you will live 30 years. You will be a dog. " The dog answered: "Sir, to live 30 years is too much, give me only 15 years." God granted his wish. *******

God created the monkey and said to him: "You will be a monkey. You will swing from branch to branch doing tricks. You will be amusing and you will live 20 years. " The monkey answered: "To live 20 years is too much, give me only 10 years." God granted his wish. ******* Finally God created man ... and said to him: "You will be man, the only rational creature on the face of the earth. You will use your intelligence to become master over all the animals. You will dominate the world and you will live 20 years." ******* Man responded: "Sir, I will be a man but to live only 20 years is very little, give me the 30 years that the donkey refused, the 15 years that the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey refused." God granted man's wish ******* And since then, man lives 20 years as a man , marries and spends 30 years like a donkey, working and carrying all the burdens on his back.

Then when his children are grown, he lives 15 years like a dog taking care of the house and eating whatever is given to him, so that when he is old, he can retire and live 10 years like a monkey, going from house to house and from one son or daughter to another doing tricks to amuse his grandchildren. That's Life. Is'nt it ??????????
