User Interfaces Engine speed, system alarms and system status are displayed as codes through the front door of the ECU. This information supports normal operation of the tractionV25 system equipment. This information is repeated on serial communications to the LCU for remote display by integration into the drivers cab display. Viking Vision will be required by technicians performing fault finding or commissioning funcitons. Viking Vision also supports modification of power unit performance / operation and installation of updated EMS software into the Viking25 controller by technicians. Viking Vision is not required for normal operation of the TractionV25 system. Both interfaces are described below: Engine Speed, Alarms and Status LED Display A window located in the front door of the enclosure enables permanent viewing of the Engine Speed, Alarms and Status LED Display and associated legend of LED display codes. The legend details are included in this manual, along with secondary list of expanded codes, combining to provide a comprehensive list of alarm and status codes. The display is a 4 character, 7 segment LED display. With no power applied to ECU the display will be blank. On power-up the display indicates, for a short time period, the current version and issue of software installed. With no current alarms and the engine stationary the display permanently indicates one of the following engine status codes: - “Sb” representing ‘start block’, Engine stationary – not available to start - “AtS” representing ‘available to start’, Engine stationary – available to start With no current alarms and the engine running the display indicates the current engine status. The display is formatted on a time cycle basis providing 1 second of a combined setspeed, fuel and load control function status followed by 5 seconds of engine speed. The possible codes are listed below: - “XXXX” where ‘XXXX’ is the numeric value representing engine rpm. - Combined setspeed, fuel and load control function status. Status codes are provided to cover all related system functions. Status codes are formatted as follows: = “Sxyz” Where: ‘S’ is a constant denoting the display is a status code ‘x’ is an alpha-numeric value for the function in control of setspeed ‘y’ is an alpha-numeric value for the function in control of fuel ‘z’ is an alpha-numeric value for the function in control of load

The ECU alarm and status code legend and an expansion of the status code legend combine to provide a comprehensive reference for status codes. Alarm and Status Code Legend ALARM CODE A1-10 A11-20 A21-30 A31-40 A41-50 A51-70 A71-80 A81-90 A91 STATUS CODE

All active alarm conditions are indicated on the LED display. A time period of upto 4 seconds is allocated within the display time cycle format when active alarm conditions exists. Upto 4x alarm codes are displayed for 1 second each, per cycle. Alarm codes are provided to cover all system alarm, shutdown and system fault conditions. Alarm code indications are formatted as follows: “A_ab” Where: ‘A’ is a constant denoting the display is an alarm code. ‘ab’ is a numeric value for the alarm code. Under engine stationary conditions the cycle consists of 2 seconds current engine status code display, then 4x 1 seconds of alarm code display, then repeat. Under engine running conditions the cycle consists of 1 second combined setspeed, fuel and load control function status code display, then 1 second engine rpm display, then upto 4x 1 seconds of alarm code display, then repeat.

Should there be more than 4 active alarm conditions the display indicates the first 4 alarms (4x 1 seconds), reverts to the combined setspeed, fuel and load control function status code display for 1 second and the engine rpm display for 1 second before displaying a further block of upto 4 alarms as necessary. When all active alarm conditions have been indicated the display repeats this alarm indication cycle. The ECU alarm and status code legend and an expansion of the alarm code legend will combine to provide a comprehensive reference for the Engine Alarms and Status LED Display alarm codes.
