AIR-COOLED SYSTEM In an air cooled sytem a current of air is made to blow past the outside of cylinder barrel whose outer surface area has been considerbly increased by providing COOLING FINS .This method will increase the rate of colling. APPLICATION: This method is mainly applicable to engines in motar cycles, smallcars ,airplanes and combact tanks. Where motion of vechile gives a good valocity to ool the engine. In bigger units a CIRCULATING FAN is also used.In addtion to these engine, air colleing is used in some small stationary engines. The value of heat transfer coefficient between metal and air is appreciably low.As a result of this, the cylinder wall temparatures of the air colled cylinders are considerbly higher than those of water cooled type. In order to lower the cylinder wall temparature the area of the outside temprature which directly diassipates heat to the atmosphere must be sufficiently high .This is usually done by providing the FINS
