AGRICULTURIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES        

Carries out applied and field research into environmental conditions, product effectiveness and animal nutrition and health Provides farmers with appropriate news, information or developments Visits farms and production sites for evaluations Responds to questions from individual farmers, farming associations, government agencies and the general public about health of food, soil and environment Demonstrates new products or services Plan and supervise agricultural productivity programs for industrial development projects and waste management programs for composting and farming Determine best methods of planting, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, storing, processing and transporting agricultural produce. Implement best practices with current available technologies. Conduct experiments to develop new or improves varieties of field crops, focusing on characteristics such as yield, quality, disease resistance, nutritional value or adaptation to specific soils or climates.

REQUIREMENTS    

Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s/College Degree in Agriculture/Forestry/Aquaculture or equivalent and have passed the board exam for the agriculturist given by the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC). Preferably 3-5 yrs experienced employee specialized in Agriculture/forestry/fisheries/forestry or equivalent Good command of the English language, written and oral Must be willing to travel from time to time

Salary/Compensation In the Philippines, an agriculturist’s entry level salary ranges from P13,000 - P15,000 per month and may even go up to P22,000 per month for those highly-trained and experienced. http://ble.dole.gov.ph/index.php/agriculturist
