CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

ANGAT DCC “Kaagapay, Karamay at Kaibigan ng Angatenyo”

Hailed as the oldest and largest cooperative in town, ANGAT Development and Credit Cooperative is considered as one of the major partners of the municipality in terms of providing financial support to its members. This institution provides excellent products and services to promote self-reliance, thus, enhancing the economic and social well-being of our fellow Angatenyos.

From the simple dreams of 35 pioneer Angatenyo farmers, spear-headed by Mrs. Gerlita V. Montano, this humble cooperative was planned, conceptualized and finally born last February 29, 1988 with only Php5,000.00 as starting capital and was first registered to BACOD, June 16, 1989 as Angat Multipurpose Primary Kilusang Bayan Inc. (AMPKBI), confirmed with the CDA last March 2, 1991.

To date, Angat Development and Credit Cooperative its new name was re-registerd with Cooperative Development Authority last Decemebr 7, 2009, as mandated by Republic Act 9520 with a total of Three thousand eight hundred twenty six (3,826) Regular members and more or less two thousand Associate members. It has a total asset of more than Php 170,000,000.00. Year 2003, a branch office in Donacion, Angat, Bulacan was also opened to cater to the growing number of membership. Currently, the area of operation is not just concentrated in the Municipality of Angat but extended to the entire province of Bulacan.

In lieu of its commitment to serve and uplift the lives of its members and the entire community, Angat DCC provides continuous community development and outreach programs like Scholarship Programs, Medical Missions, Feeding Programs, Give a Gift every Christmas, Livelihood Trainings, CleanUp Drive, Tree Planting, Balik Eskwela , Lingap sa Barangay at sa Mahihirap and other charitable programs to different institutions.

For its service excellence and competitiveness, Angat DCC has received numerous awards and recognitions from various institutions. Angat DCC is also an affiliate and active member of leading Cooperative Unions and Federations of the Philippines like Bulacan Cooperative Hall of Fame League Union (BCHOFLU), Central Luzon Region League (PFCCO/CLRL), Bulacan Federation of Cooperatives (BUFECO), Kalipunan ng mga Kooperatiba sa Bulakan (KKB) and National Confederation of Cooperative (NATCCO).

Thirty one years of service and still counting, Angat Development and Credit Cooperative is committed to serve its members and the community with sincerity, honesty and excellence.

NATURE OF BUSINESS/ PRODUCTS/ SERVICES

Angat Development and Credit Cooperative offer products and services such as Rice Trading, Home Care Products, KADAMAY Insurance, Tubigang Pangmasa, DXN, SM Credit Card, St.Peter Plans Inc., Groceries and Online Bills Payment. These are the different loan products from womb to tomb that cater to different financial needs of Angatenyo farmers, employees and small, medium and large business entrepreneurs

CURRENT REVENUE SIZE AND PROFIT

The current revenue of Angat Development and Credit Cooperative is about 6,238,267.14 for the year 2018.

CURRENT ASSET SIZE

The current asset of Angat Development and Credit Cooperative is about 56,592,386.73 for the year 2018.

MAJOR MARKETS SERVED

The major markets that Angat cooperative wanted to served are the farmers, vendors, and the small enterprise.

NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES

The number of employees is about ten (10) consisting of two maintenance, two collectors, one accounting assistant and one accounting clerk, one loan officer and one loan clerk, and one cashier and one branch manager.

CURRENT TRENDS, ISSUES AND PROBLEMS

Members who are in financial difficulty have problems on paying their loan on time and the reason for this can be anything. Maybe they are going through tough times and they really are unable to pay back. There are also some members who get away with their debt. They know that some of the cooperatives are tolerant towards the late payers. In that case, customers try to stretch their payments as much as possible. Members also forgot to pay their debt because of unexpected emergencies.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Most of the data used in this research are from the website ( http://town.angat.net/angatdevelopment-and-credit-cooperative/ ) whose data is visible to the public. We also conduct interview with Mr. Oliver D. Veneracion (Branch Manager) and some of the employees. The financial statement used here came from their annual book report.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The area of business are from Bonga Mayor, Bustos, Bulacan to Marungko, Angat, Bulacan.
