An actor, actress, or player is a person who acts in a dramatic production and who works in film, television, theatre, or radio in that capacity.
How it came about
The Greeks
invented two kinds of drama, tragedy and comedy. Both were performed several times during the year as part of religious and agricultural festivals
Greek Theatre performance
The very first appearance of drama was in 600 BC in Attica, the Greek region centered on Athens.
The poet Thespis developed a new musical form: He impersonated a single character and engaged a chorus of singer-dancers in dialogue. This form came to be known as tragedy.
Thespis can be considered both the first dramatist and the first actor. He also introduced such things as the independent actor, as well as masks, make up and costumes.
The drama of earlier times had almost no influence on medieval drama. This was because the Christian Church had a lot of influence in the society.
Medieval Theatre
In the Easter service, and later in the Christmas service, dialogues were sung and Priests, impersonating biblical figures, acted out some scenes.
