Central Academy Dance Constitution Article 1 — Name The name of the organization shall be “Central Academy Dance” Article 2 — Purpose The organization shall operate for the purpose of: 1. Orchestrating an annual dance at Central Academy; 2. Celebrating the unique students and culture of Central Academy Article 3 — Membership 1. Membership is open to all Central Academy students in 9th grade or higher in attendance for two or more meetings; 2. Any non-student members, including staff members, do not have voting rights; 3. No member may profit or receive any benefit in any dealings or actions taken on behalf of the organization, unless that member has previously declared a conflict of interest at a meeting Article 4 — Core Committee 1. The core committee shall consist of the following members: a. Secretary; b. Treasurer; c. Decoration Committee Officer; d. T-Shirt Committee Officer; e. Awesome Committee Officer; f. Programming Committee Officer;

g. Public Relations Committee Officer; h. Music Committee Officer; i. Teacher Liason 2. Members of the core committee shall be appointed at the last meeting of the year by members of the previous year’s core committee; 3. To be considered for a position in the core committee, members must have actively participated in planning the previous year’s dance Article 4 — Responsibilities of Core Committee Officers 1. The Secretary will: i. Prepare an agenda for every meeting; ii. Record and distribute minutes to all appropriate members; iii. Lead communication via email or the web

2. The Treasurer will: i. Be responsible for creating the Central Academy Dance’s budget; ii. Update the committee at every meeting as to action taken with respect to the budget; iii. Oversee fundraising efforts for the dance 3. The Decoration Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for organizing decorations for the dance; ii. Chair meetings of the Decoration Committee; iii. Collaborate with the Awesome Committee to create awesome decorations

4. The T-Shirt Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for the organization, creation, purchase, and distribution of t-shirts for the dance

5. The Awesome Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for building decorations, contraptions, or art projects for display at the dance that make people impressed; ii. Chair meetings of the Awesome Committee; iii. Collaborate with the Decorations Committee

6. The Programming Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for organizing non-dancing-related programming for the dance; ii. Chair meetings of the Programming Committee 7. The Public Relations Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for spreading the word about the Central Academy dance; ii. Attempt to broaden the appeal of the Central Academy dance; iii. Be responsible for fundraising efforts in collaboration with the treasurer; iv. Chair meetings of the Public Relations Committee 8. The Music Committee Officer will: i. Be responsible for the selection of a DJ and the music played at the dance; ii. Chair the Music Committee 9. The Teacher Liaison will: i. Be responsible for communication with the Central Academy teachers and staff about the activities of the Central Academy Dance organization; ii. Encourage teacher involvement in dance activities Article 4 — Meetings 1. The core committee will meet every other week during the school year; 2. All members will meet monthly during the school year;

3. Members will receive notice of a meeting at least seven days prior to the meeting taking place Article 4 — Decisions Final decisions regarding the activities of the Central Academy Dance organization will be made by a majority of the core committee Article 5 — Amendments Any amendments to the constitution must be passed by a two-thirds majority vote by the members of the core committee Article 5 — Member Removal 1. Any member of the organization who commits an act negatively affecting the interests of the organization and its members, including non-disclosure of a significant or continuing conflict of interest, may be given notice of removal; 2. The member up for removal shall have the right to defend his or her actions; 3. A two-thirds majority vote of current members present in favor of removal is required; 4. The member will be removed from the organization’s membership and will lose any privileges associated with being a member of the organization; 5. Members of the core committee may only be removed by a majority vote of the core committee
