ABSTRACT This experiment aims to discover the density of different liquids using pycnometer. This experiment involves measuring the mass of the three liquid known as water, chloroform and methanol. Each liquid will undergo three trials carefully following procedures to have precise and accurate results. The gathered data was used in computing the experimental values of densities with respect to their temperatures and the result of this calculation is then compared to the true value of densities that can be obtained from Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook (8th edition). These data were used in computing the percent errors of the values obtained from the experiment. Upon comparing and computing for the percent error, all the data and result was interpreted and undergone a critical analysis. In conclusion, the percent error of this experiment was low and thus the experiment is a success.
