Power Construction Company was one of the largest construction company in Sri Lanka. And it was established in 1990. When the G.M was Mr. Peter Silva. He is very educated and skillful manager. After his retiring Mr. John Fernando has been appointed as the manager on year of 2003. When his duration the company was faces many problems. The company was run on loose. Most of the old employees have left the organization to the competitors. He hadn’t offer any commit ion to their. And employees were really unhappy about his new rules. So after two years from his appointment the director board has realized the problems and I’m newly appointed general manager on 2005. And first I studied reports and all the documents of the power Construction. Then I have been organized a board meeting with our middle management. And I identify what are the problems with in their works. Then I kept my first step. It was motivating our employees. With out motivate them we cant get better woks from them. According to that step we had to offer attractive salary and commit ion for their works. And offer some finance reward to them. And second step is establishing new vision, mission, and goals. Then I had rebuilt our communication side. According to this step I have add new technologies to company., • • • •

And I had selected one way versus two-way communication type for there. Under that new technology we were add satelight system. Using that system we can gave more facilities for our clients. Then they can see live videos about their own projects in our office. I had following two management theories. First one is Taylor’s theory. I thought it is the best way to motivate our employees. But I saw some limitations in this theory. Because of that after studying the theories I selected best one that can support to Taylor’s theory. It’s Abraham Maslo’s need hierarchy. Using that way we can motivate employees very well. Then I have to think how to manage human power. So I had to plan it under those steps. First one is how to recruit our employees. And how we can give best training for them. And I had plan after the training period how can keep them for our service. Then I had signed agreement with them. Another special thing is how we can respect for our retires. They are very important for us because they have many experiences. So I had plan how can I against invited to them for helping. Finally my opinion is always mixed with new technology. Because it is the best way to the motivating and best way to win a good will.
