This article was written under the pen-name San Aung. (Mandalay) , the last capital city of the Myanmar kings which was captured by the British in 1885. The author draws upon three letters as crucial in describing important events (1) the letter from General Prendergast, (2) the letter from Kinwun Mingyi to the British Commissioner, and (3), the reply letter from Prendergast. It also offers a brief chronicle of Mandalay history [1853 - 1953].
