The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. "It is overfull. No more will go in!"

As India's first lunar mission settled into its chosen orbit successfully, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman G Madhavan Nair described the launch as "perfect" which was achieved after "fighting against all odds". "It is a historic moment as far as India is concerned. We have started our journey for the moon and the first leg of the journey has gone perfectly well," Nair said seconds after the successful completion of the launch. "It is a remarkable performance by the launch vehicle," he said.

"Like this cup," Nan-in said, "you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"

Aashritha Gathers Mass - A Success Story

-Jayachandra Naidu

O

ne fine morning in October, Aashritha Rakshak Phani brought to fellow members' attention a needy case of Seema Gaur. Seema Gaur is a BDS student from Nankari Village near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was born and brought up from a poor family. Her parents are working as maids in the houses of some IITK professors. Seema struggled very hard in her life for studies. She got a decent rank in Combined Pre Medical Test (C.P.M.T) last year (2007). She got admission in a B.D.S college in Agra after completion of her twelfth grade. Due to her family's financial condition, she was not able to join at that time. This year with the help of her family friends she approached the UP Govt and got exemption on her college fees for four years. She was in immediate need for 15,000 Rs for starting her education, as an advance.

ashritha, with all its enthusiasm came forward to help Seema. Aashritha was ready to help for 15,000 Rs. However members also brainstorned about raising additional funds to support ongoing kids' education.

W

hen everybody thought everything has been taken care of, Aashritha came to know about another hardship faced by Seema. College management asked Seema to pay an additional 50,000 Rs towards hostel charges, within 10 days. Financially she is not in a position to bear the

n the background, Mr.Trith, a student from IIT Kanpur brought Seema Gaur to the notice of Aashritha, by sending an email to Naresh, Aashritha coordinator and Alumni of IIT Kanpur. Then Aashritha, with the help of it's large network, has raised the required funds within one week. Thanks to monumental efforts by Naresh, Phani, Raghav and all members, Aashritha was able to extend its helping hand to Seema. Naresh has raised a great fund (Rs 40,000/-) within a short time from his colleagues. Udaya and Aparna prepared proper document on Seema to communicate within Aashritha group. Later Phani reported back with the wonderful news of handing over cheque to Seema & Seema preparing to join her new college.
