Undertake research to develop an understanding of range of TV formats such ass  Series  Serial  Single drama TV genres  Period (Downting abbey)  Dramadoc (Omagh bombing)  Crime (Peaky blinders)  Soap  Opera  Comedy (The Office)

 What is a TV series ?  A TV series is a program that be broadcasted regular like the big bang theory

which has a story to it but if you did not know the story you wouldn't be lost as each episodes is different to on another these would normally be 30mins long with one break and be’s shown often.

 The big bang theory is a TV series from September 2007 and has 12 seasons and

one spin off called ‘Young Sheldon’ , it has a total of 258 episodes at the minute and is about 4 nerds who look for women and find love with very different people and have family's and love work and comics.

 What is a Serial?  A serial mainly follows the main story arcs that do tend to span over seasons

 TV series is a series of seasons like Game Of Thrones as it currently has 7 seasons

and is filming the 8th season.

 Game of Thrones is based in a fictional world ‘Westeros’ and has the north which is

cold and has many kingdoms which are always in battle with each other but forms alliances to defeat opponents and it also has a south side past a big miles high frozen wall called the wall the south is normally hotter weather wise and had the capital and many other places

 What is a single drama?  A single drama is a single TV series or film that only has one single film/episode

and will not have any more like ‘Murdered for Being Different’

 Murdered for Being Different is about a 20 year old who in 2007 was kicked to

death in a park by a gang for being a goth and her boyfriend was series beating and ended up in a coma.

 A period genre is a film or tv show set in the past or future in a specific period like

Downton abbey which is set in the 1912’s and has 6 seasons and is written by Julian Fellowes.

 The target audience for Downton abbey is elderly as they can relate to it but

children and young adults watch it as well

 The scenes is set in a old big house with a mid war theme and they wear all the old

trendy clothes

 The Omagh bombing was set on the bomb that went of in Omagh in 1993 and it is

a 90 minute dramadoc and is targeted at adults and the elderly the drama was filmed in Belfast.

 When the bomb went off it injured more than 50 people and went of the Sunday

before mothers day and also killed a number of people including a 12 year old boy , his mother talks about in on the dramadoc and goes into detail of the devastation.

 Peaky blinders was set in the late 1890’s in Birmingham where the cast is

gangsters growing up the ranks and as they get bigger they get bigger problems and it shows how the gangster world works and how all the family's are linked through illegal jobs.

 The roles in the series is very gangster like and the props are aswel and the

clothes they wear is old fasisioned trench coats where you could hide knives and guns however the peaky blinders are known for fighting and having blades in there hats.

 The crime genre has a lot of violence and fight scenes in it and mostly illegal

works.

 EastEnders is a soap that runs every weekday bar Wednesdays and has for some

time (since 2001) and it is normally 30 minutes long and within 8 mounts of the show being out it won number 1 spot on barbs tv rating.

 For a good soap to happen it must be consistence and have plenty of story and

point of views to go off as EastEnders and many others does and as currently it has 5,809 (15/11/18) that’s 121 days of film

 Brooklyn 99 is a comedy based in America and is about a detective agency called

“99” and its about them catching bad guys and having a laugh along the way and doing stupid and funny stuff throughout to entertain the audience and currently has 5 seasons and 22 episodes each running's about 22 mins

 it has been running since 2013 and was aired in January 14th 2014 and is based at

younger audience but attracts some older people.

 In order to make a good comedy series you need to make the audience laugh just

like Brooklyn 99 does and continues to do as and keeps there audience growing.
