TS Zephyr Code of Practice 1 (COP1) applies to all Cadets within TS ZEPHYR, and to the Ships Company of TS ZEPHYR when engaged in activities away from the Unit. Personnel should familiarise themselves with Standing Orders. CATEGORY 1 OFFENCES Minor Misconduct, examples include:
Absence from place of duty
Failure to adhere to Uniform Regulations
Failure to adhere to Standing Orders
Creating a disturbance
CATEGORY 2 OFFENCES More Serious Misconduct, examples include:
Use of bad or abusive language
Bad behaviour whilst on Unit activities
Conduct likely to result in injury or damage
Disobeying the order of an Officer or Senior Rate
Conduct prejudicial to the good order of Naval Discipline
Unauthorised use of another persons property
Bribing/Forcing others to do your duty
Leaving the Unit without permission
Repeated warnings for Category 1 Offences
CATEGORY 3 OFFENCES Serious or Gross Misconduct, examples include:
Fighting or assault (regardless of whether injury is caused)
Theft or Damage to property
Lying or serious dishonesty
Smoking (contrary to Standing Orders), alcohol or substance misuse
Conduct prejudicial to the good name of the Unit
Conduct unbecoming of Rank or Service
Bullying
Repeated warnings for Category 2 Offences
In the most serious cases, parents and the Police may be informed Standing Orders - Version 28/11/2009
TS Zephyr Code of Practice 2 (COP2) should be read in conjunction with COP1. CATEGORY 1 PENALTIES Any member of Staff may issue a proportionate penalty, as detailed below, for any issues of Minor Misconduct. The First Lieutenant will be informed.
Verbal Warning (to be noted in Defaulters Log)
Loss of Stand Easy
Additional Cleaning Duties
CATEGORY 2 PENALTIES Any member of Staff may consult the First Lieutenant who will, where appropriate, authorise a penalty for instances of More Serious Misconduct.
Any of the above Category 1 Penalties OR
Loss of Stand Easy for a period not exceeding 4 nights
Additional Special Duties for a period not exceeding 4 nights
Formally parading for Defaulters in Number 1 Uniform
Verbal warning of loss of seniority or de-rating
CATEGORY 3 PENALTIES Captains Table will be convened. The Commanding Officer will consider the circumstances and, following investigation, issue a penalty for instances of Serious or Gross Misconduct. Parents will also be informed in writing.
Any of the above Category 1 and 2 Penalties OR
Restrictions on attendance at Sea Cadet activities
Loss of privileges, good conduct badges or rate
Warning of, or Suspension from, Unit and Sea Cadet activities
Warning of, or Summarily discharge (dismissal) from the Sea Cadet Corps
Formal written warning of any above penalty
In serious cases, parents and the Police may be informed. Parents will always be informed where a Category 3 penalty is awarded. Standing Orders - Version 28/11/2009
