PROGRESS REPORT ON ASSIGNMENT
ASSIGNMENT: Practical Development and Implementation of a Simple (Two View) WynerZiv/Slepian-Wolf Codec)
Wyner–Ziv-Based Multiview Video Coding Authors: Xun Guo, Yan Lu, Member, IEEE, Feng Wu, Senior Member, IEEE, Debin Zhao, and Wen Gao, Senior Member, IEEE.
The Paper Published: IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDEO TECHNOLOGY, VOL. 18, NO. 6, JUNE 2008
The Key Points: It is a recent paper published in the IEEE transaction. Shows that the issues we are grappling with are very relevant and current in research literature. Reports on an implementation of the Multi-view, Wyner-Ziv Codec. It proposes a Joint Inter-view decoding scheme that improves side information by exploiting the correlation between views.
The proposed scheme in the paper.
A six-parameter affine model of Global motion model is used to exploit the inter-view correlation.
Experiments and results reported: Marginal improvement reported. Better performance than intra-view codec but lagging behind predictive coding. Comments/Conclusion It is a good way to start multi-view coding and exploit inter-view correlation. It concentrates more on side information improvement. I will try to implement it, while looking at other implementations. Must start to think critically about my own contribution
