Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ِ‫بِسْمِ الِ الرّحْمنِ الرّحِيم‬ In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫إِذَا الشّ ْمسُ ُكوّ َرت‬ [81:1] When the sun is covered,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫وَإِذَا النّجُومُ انكَدَ َرت‬ [81:2] And when the stars darken,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيّ َرت‬ [81:3] And when the mountains are made to pass away,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫طَلت‬ ّ ُ‫وَإِذَا ا ْلعِشَارُ ع‬ [81:4] And when the camels are left untended,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫َوإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَت‬ [81:5] And when the wild animals are made to go forth,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫َوإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجّ َرت‬ [81:6] And when the seas are set on fire,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫جت‬ َ ّ‫وَإِذَا النّفُوسُ ُزو‬ [81:7] And when souls are united,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫سئَِلت‬ ُ ُ‫وَإِذَا الْمَ ْوؤُودَة‬ [81:8] And when the female infant buried alive is asked

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫ب قُتَِلت‬ ٍ ‫بِأَيّ ذَن‬ [81:9] For what sin she was killed,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫وَإِذَا الصّحُفُ نُشِرَت‬ [81:10] And when the books are spread,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫طت‬ َ ِ‫َوإِذَا السّمَاء كُش‬ [81:11] And when the heaven has its covering removed,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعّ َرت‬ [81:12] And when the hell is kindled up,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫وَإِذَا الْجَنّةُ أُزْلِ َفت‬ [81:13] And when the garden is brought nigh,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ْ‫س مّا أَحْضَرَت‬ ٌ ْ‫عَِل َمتْ نَف‬ [81:14] Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ِ‫فَلَ ُأقْسِمُ بِالْخُنّس‬ [81:15] But nay! I swear by the stars,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ِ‫الْجَوَارِ ا ْلكُ ّنس‬ [81:16] That run their course (and) hide themselves,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫سعَس‬ ْ َ‫ل إِذَا ع‬ ِ ْ‫وَالّلي‬ [81:17] And the night when it departs,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫ح إِذَا تَنَفّس‬ ِ ْ‫وَالصّب‬ [81:18] And the morning when it brightens,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫إِنّ ُه لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيم‬ [81:19] Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫ش مَكِين‬ ِ ْ‫ذِي قُ ّوةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَر‬ [81:20] The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫مُطَاعٍ ثَمّ َأمِين‬ [81:21] One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫جنُون‬ ْ َ‫َومَا صَاحِ ُبكُم بِم‬ [81:22] And your companion is not gone mad.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ِ‫ق الْ ُمبِين‬ ِ ُ‫لْف‬ ُ ‫وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِا‬ [81:23] And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫ضنِين‬ َ ‫علَى الْغَيْبِ ِب‬ َ َ‫َومَا ُهو‬ [81:24] Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

ٍ‫شيْطَانٍ رَجِيم‬ َ ِ‫َومَا ُهوَ بِقَوْل‬ [81:25] Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫ن تَذْهَبُون‬ َ ْ‫فَأَي‬ [81:26] Whither then will you go?

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫إِنْ هُ َو إِلّ ِذكْ ٌر لّلْعَاَلمِين‬ [81:27] It is naught but a reminder for the nations,

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫ستَقِيم‬ ْ َ‫ِلمَن شَاء مِنكُمْ أَن ي‬ [81:28] For him among you who pleases to go straight.

Surah at-Takwir (The Overthrowing)

َ‫وَمَا تَشَاؤُونَ إِلّ أَن يَشَاء الُّ َربّ الْعَالَمِين‬ [81:29] And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
