Objectives To expose Middle School student to the area of applied technology using a variety of media, activities, and projects.

General Rules SAFETY IS MOST 1IvIPORTANT WHAT IS NOT YOURS LEAVE ALONE ASK BEFORE USING EQUIPMENT PINK SLIPS CAN BE GIVEN FOR DISTURBANCES Pink slips are given for inappropriate behavior. The following are examples of inappropriate behavior: Abusive language or actions Not being prepared Bothering or teasing others Not following directions Equipment abuse Not cleaning up Gum, candy, or pop in the class Talking out of turn Tardy Unsafe conduct Leaving class without permission Wasting Materials Using equipment without proper instruction Entering lab without safety glasses Not completing or working on assignments

Citizenship I will follow the procedure for citizenship grades as noted in the student handbook. Pink Slips that are given during the term will affect the student’s citizenship grade. Please review your handbook.

Grade Technology/Wood Shop

Grades Grades are earned on a total point system. If you add the total of your total points and divide it by the total points possible, you receive a percentage that follows the following grade scale. A 100% -93% C 76% -73% A- 93% -90% C- 72% -70% B+ 89% -87% D+ 69% -67% B 86% -83% D 66% -63% B- 82% -80% D- 62% -60% C+ 79% -77% F 59% 0% -

Make Up Work This is the student’s responsibility. If you are absent from class you need to check with the instructor to make up missed assignment. All assignments must be handed in before the last two days of the term.

Materials Needed Students will be required to have a notebook or binder to keep all tech notes, handouts, assignments, and tests given during the term. Your notebook or binder and a pencil will be required each day in class.

Costs Every student needs to pay a $10.00 lab fee. This should have been accessed during registration. If you did not pay the fee, I will let your student know in a few weeks. Students will also be charged extra for wasting material or breaking equipment related to misuse or abuse. Normal wear and tear are not considered misuse or abuse.

Parents It is a great pleasure to be working with your children here at Star Valley Middle School this year. I am looking forward to having a great year. Please sign and send back with your student tomorrow. Signing only indicates that you have read this document.
