INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Omron® HEM-670IT Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with Advanced Positioning Sensor (APS®) and PC Software.

This means the monitor detects your blood’s movement through the artery in your wrist and converts the movements into a digital reading. Clinical research has proven a direct relationship between blood pressure in the wrist and blood pressure in the arm. Changes in wrist blood pressure reflect changes in arm blood pressure because the arteries in the arm and wrist connect. The software included with this monitor can help you provide important trending information for your physician of changes in your blood pressure. Store the device and the components in a clean, safe location. Changes or modification not approved by Omron Healthcare will void the user warranty. BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT To ensure a reliable reading follow these recommendations: 1. Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising and bathing for at least 30 minutes before taking measurement. Rest for at least 15 minutes before taking a measurement. 2. Stress raises blood pressure. Avoid taking measurements during stressful times. 3. The cuff can be applied to your left or right wrist. 4. Measurements should be taken in a quiet place and you should be in a relaxed, seated position. 5. Remain still and do not talk during the measurements. 6. Keep a record of your blood pressure and pulse for your physician. A single measurement may not provide an accurate indication of your true blood pressure. You need to take and record several readings over a period of time. Try to measure your blood pressure at the same time each day for consistency.

INTELLISENSE® TECHNOLOGY IS AN ASSURANCE OF ACCURACY Blood pressure changes throughout the day. IntelliSense® Technology automatically determines the optimum amount of pressure required to quickly and comfortably measure your blood pressure. This helps to ensure an accurate measurement. ADVANCED POSITIONING SENSOR (APS®) ENSURES A RELIABLE MEASUREMENT Correct cuff positioning is critical when monitoring blood pressure. When the monitor detects an irregular rhythm two or more times during the measurement, the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) will appear on the display with the measurement values. An irregular heartbeat rhythm is defined as a rhythm that is more than 25% slower or 25% faster from the average rhythm detected while the monitor is measuring the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. If the irregular heartbeat symbol ( ) displays with your measurement results, we recommend you consult your physician. Follow the directions of your doctor.

DISPLAY SYMBOLS The American Heart Association1 recommends the following guideline for upper limit of normal for home blood pressure readings: AHA Home Guideline for Upper Limit of Normal BP Systolic Blood Pressure 135 mmHg Diastolic Blood Pressure

85 mmHg

This is a general guideline because blood pressure depends on age and morbidity. The AHA recommends a lower home blood pressure goal for certain patients, including diabetic patients, pregnant women, and patients with renal failure1. The monitor is not intended to be a diagnostic device. WARNING Contact your physician for specific information about your blood pressure. Self-diagnosis and treatment using measured results may be dangerous. Follow the instructions of your physician or licensed healthcare provider. TAKING A MEASUREMENT

The Heartbeat Symbol flashes on the display during the measurement. The Heartbeat Symbol flashes at every heartbeat. When the measurement is complete, the Heartbeat Symbol flashes on the display with your blood pressure and pulse rate if the reading is above 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure value and/or 85 for the Diastolic Blood Pressure value. USING THE MEMORY FUNCTION

The Heartbeat Symbol flashes when the blood pressure reading stored in the memory is above 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure value and/or 85 for the Diastolic Blood Pressure value.

AVERAGE VALUE SYMBOL (

The Average Value Symbol is displayed when you press the MEMORY button. The most recent average reading appears on the display screen.

The Morning Average symbol is displayed when viewing Morning Averages using the Memory Function.

BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Press the ( ) indicator on the battery cover and slide the cover off in the direction of the arrow.

2. Install 2 “AAA” size batteries so the + (positive) and - (negative) polarities match the polarities of the battery compartment as indicated.

3. Replace the Battery Cover by sliding the cover as illustrated until the cover clicks securely over the battery compartment.

BATTERY INSTALLATION BATTERY REPLACEMENT Near Low Battery Indicator Low Battery Indicator When the Low Battery Indicator appears on the display screen turn the monitor off and remove all the batteries. Replace with two new batteries at the same time. WARNING If battery fluid should get in your eyes, immediately rinse with plenty of clean water. Contact a physician immediately. NOTES: • Turn the unit off before replacing the batteries. Measurement values stored in the memory are not deleted during battery replacement. • When the batteries are replaced, you may need to reset the date and time. If the year is flashing on the display screen, refer to “Setting the Date and Time” Section. • The supplied batteries may have a shorter life. CAUTION Dispose of the device, components and optional accessories according to applicable local regulations. Unlawful disposal may cause environmental pollution.

SETTING THE MEMORY FUNCTION The Monitor stores up to 84 sets of measurement values (blood pressure and pulse rate) with the date and time. When 84 sets of measurement values are stored in the memory, the oldest record is deleted to save the most recent measurement values. The monitor is designed to store the measurement values for one person in the memory. If more than one person uses this monitor, we recommend setting the Automatic Memory Function to OFF. 1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button.

SETTING THE TruRead™ FUNCTION The TruRead™ Mode takes three consecutive measurements. The monitor will inflate, take a measurement, and deflate three times separated by a short interval of time between each measurement. Note: The default setting is OFF, which means the monitor is set to the Single Mode to take one measurement. When the TruRead is set to ON, the INTERVAL TIME can be set to 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds. Note: When the Automatic Memory Function is set to OFF, the TruRead™ function can not be set to ON. 1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button. Press the SET button again. The TruRead Screen is displayed with the current setting.

SETTING THE ADVANCED POSITIONING SENSOR The Advanced Positioning Sensor (APS®) will assure you the unit is in the correct position level with the user’s heart before the monitor starts to take the measurement. When the APS Sensor is set to ON, the SIGNAL can be set to ON or OFF. When the SIGNAL is set to ON, the monitor beeps when correctly positioned. 1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button.

SETTING THE MEASUREMENT WRIST The monitor is designed to take measurements on the left wrist or the right wrist. The monitor is set to take measurements on the left wrist at the time of purchase. 1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button.

SETTING THE ALARM The alarm can be set to sound twice a day to alert the user to take a measurement. The alarm can be set to AM or PM alerts. The alarm is set to off ( ) at the time of purchase. NOTES: • Press any button on the monitor to stop the alarm. • The alarm will automatically stop sounding after 2 minutes. • The alarm will not sound when the monitor is in use; setting the monitor, taking a measurement, using the memory or using the graph function. 1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button.

SETTING THE DATE AND TIME Set the monitor to the current date and time before taking a measurement for the first time. If the date and time are not set correctly, the measurement values stored in the memory will have the wrong date and time. Set the date and time in the following situations: 1. Before you use the monitor for the first time 2. After battery replacement 3. After resetting the monitor 1. APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF The monitor is designed to take measurements on the left wrist or the right wrist. The monitor is set to take measurements on the left wrist at the time of purchase. CAUTION Read all of the information in the instruction manual and any other literature in the box before operating the unit. APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF ON THE LEFT WRIST 1. Roll up sleeve. Make sure your sleeve is not rolled up too tightly on your arm. This may constrict the flow of blood in your arm.

2. Wrap the cuff directly against your skin. Do not apply over clothing. Place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upward.

3. Position the cuff leaving a clearance of approximately 1/2 to 1 inch between the cuff and the bottom of your palm as illustrated.

4. Hold the bottom part of the cuff and wrap it around the wrist so it fits comfortably and securely around your wrist.

5. Fold the remaining part of the wrist cuff back out of the way. Lightly press the cloth closure with your finger so the cuff is securely fastened.

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF NOTES: • If the cuff is not securely fastened, the wrist cuff may become loose during measurement and the measurement may not be possible. • Users with a wrist circumference of less than 5 3/4 inches may feel the wrist cuff move if the cloth fastener is not wrapped snugly. In this case, do not wrap the wrist cuff any tighter, it will not affect the measurement. • Fold and fasten the extra portion of wrist cuff as shown to the right. If the extra portion of wrist cuff is not fastened, it will not affect the measurement.

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF ON THE RIGHT WRIST When taking a measurement using the right wrist, position the cuff as shown in the illustration. Make sure the right wrist measurement symbol is displayed. To change the setting, refer to Setting the Measurement Wrist.

Log in as an Administrator for installation.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE To keep your digital blood pressure monitor in the best condition and protect the unit from damage, follow the directions listed below: Keep the monitor in the storage case when not in use. Do not fold the wrist cuff too tightly. The fabric fastener could touch the inner surface of the cuff and damage it. Clean the monitor with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any abrasive or volatile cleaners. Do not attempt to clean the cuff. CAUTION Do not submerge the device or any of the components in water. Do not subject the monitor to extreme hot or cold temperatures, humidity or direct sunlight. CAUTION Store the device and the components in a clean, safe location. CAUTION Do not subject the monitor to strong shocks, such as dropping the unit on the floor. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for three months or longer. Always replace all the batteries with new ones at the same time. CAUTION Use only Omron authorized parts and accessories. Parts and accessories not approved for use with the device may damage the unit. CAUTION Changes or modification not approved by Omron Healthcare will void the user warranty. El monitor de muñeca Omron emplea el método oscilométrico para la medición de la presión arterial. Esto significa que el monitor detecta el movimiento de la sangre a través de la arteria en la muñeca y convierte dicho movimiento en una lectura digital. Las investigaciones clínicas han demostrado que existe una relación directa entre la presión arterial de la muñeca y la presión arterial del brazo. Los cambios en la presión arterial de la muñeca reflejan cambios en la presión arterial del brazo debido a que las arterias del brazo y de la muñeca están conectadas. ANTES DE TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN A fin de garantizar una lectura confiable, siga estas recomendaciones: 1. Evite comer, tomar bebidas alcohólicas, fumar, hacer ejercicio y bañarse durante al menos 30 minutos antes de tomar una medición. Descanse durante al menos 15 minutos antes de tomar una medición. 2. El estrés eleva la presión arterial. Evite tomar mediciones en momentos de estrés. 3. Se puede colocar la banda para la muñeca tanto en la muñeca izquierda como en la derecha. 4. Las mediciones se deberán llevar a cabo en un lugar tranquilo, mientras está sentado y relajado. 5. Quédese quieto y no hable durante las mediciones. 6. Lleve un registro de su presión arterial y del pulso para que lo vea su médico. Es posible que una sola medición no brinde una indicación precisa de su verdadera presión arterial. Es necesario tomar varias mediciones y registrarlas durante un período de tiempo. Trate de medir su presión arterial todos los días a la misma hora para obtener medidas consistentes.

Cámbielas simultáneamente por dos pilas nuevas. ADVERTENCIA En caso de que el fluido de las pilas entre en contacto con los ojos, enjuague de inmediato con abundante agua limpia. CONFIGURACIÓN DE LA FUNCIÓN MEMORIA El monitor almacena hasta 84 conjuntos de valores de medición (presión arterial y pulso) con su fecha y hora. Una vez que se guardan 84 conjuntos de valores de medición en la memoria, el registro más antiguo se borra para guardar los valores de medición más recientes. El monitor ha sido diseñado para almacenar los valores de medición de una sola persona en la memoria. COLOCACIÓN DE LA BANDA PARA LA MUÑECA COLOCACIÓN DE LA BANDA PARA LA MUÑECA EN LA MUÑECA IZQUIERDA 1. Súbase la manga. Asegúrese de que la manga no esté muy ajustada al brazo. Esto puede reducir el flujo de sangre en el brazo.

2. Coloque la banda directamente sobre la piel. No la utilice sobre la ropa. Coloque la banda sobre su muñeca izquierda con el pulgar izquierdo hacia arriba.

En ese caso, no ajuste más la banda ya que no afectará la medición. • Doble y ajuste el sobrante de la banda hacia la derecha tal como se indica. Si no lo ajusta, no afectará la medición.

CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO Para mantener el monitor de presión arterial digital en buenas condiciones y proteger la unidad para que no se dañe, siga estas instrucciones: Guarde el monitor en el estuche cuando no lo esté utilizando. No pliegue el sujetador de muñeca con demasiada firmeza. El cierre de tela podría tocar la superficie interna del sujetador y dañarlo. Limpie el monitor con un paño seco y suave. No use limpiadores abrasivos o volátiles. No limpie la banda. PRECAUCIÓN No sumerja el dispositivo ni ninguno de sus componentes en el agua. No someta al monitor a temperaturas extremas altas o bajas, humedad o luz directa del sol. PRECAUCIÓN Guarde el dispositivo y los componentes en un lugar limpio y seguro.
