February 14, 2019 Jesus Good Shepherd School celebrated its 54th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “Shepherdine in Mission: Beloved. Gifted. Empowered.” Rev. Fr. Glenn Dela Peña officiated the Thanksgiving Mass held at Mary Mother of the Good Shepherd. Fr. Glenn stressed that we should be thankful for the gift of another year, for God’s fidelity, love and His faithfulness to us. Sr. Ales Paz O. Pamplona, SJBP, School Principal, gave her meaningful message about being faithful and the significance of the year of the youth, followed by the declaration of the opening of the Foundation Day. “Understanding the Bible is not the real challenge but by living it,” Megan Enano, St. Paul’s National Bible Quiz Best Essay Winner, Regional Finals, stated in her opening remarks in the 1st JGSS Bible Quiz. Competitive contestants from Grade –Four to Senior High School eagerly participated. This encouraged Shepherdines to become a role model of society and to fill each heart with joy and gladness from the overflowing grace of God. Sr. Ales Paz O. Pamplona, SJBP, School Principal, Sr. Vilana S. Laluan, SJBP, Finance Officer, and Miss Wency O. Provido, High School Level Coordinator, were present at the program as the evaluators. The Showcase of Talents was organized by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) and Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) headed by their moderators, Miss Narcisa Q. Rodil and Miss Mae P. Romero. Selected gifted pupils, students and teachers shared their talents which entertained the audience. The Shepherdine’s Radiobroadcasting team expressed their forte by serving as the emcees of the program. February 15, 2019 The second day of the event will not be complete without the solemn prayer service, a way of gathering as a community to give thanks and pray as one community. Everybody made their moves and exercise with the beat of the music on Zumba for All. The dance started off simply, with stretches and simple workouts that gradually escalated into exhilaratingly challenging groove. To add more fun and excitement, Shepherdines were given the chance to play the traditional Palarong Pinoy such as the classic sack race, calamansi relay, hampas palayok, agaw-bitin, and others. The hard fought tug-of-war between the Grades 7 and 8 facing off against Grade 9 students wherein unexpectedly, the grades 7 and 8 students won and another one between Grade 10 and the Senior High School drew attention at the center of the field which the SHS proudly claimed. Sportsmanship dominated the whole JGSS community as they witness a valiant exhibition games in the afternoon both in basketball and volleyball- Faculty and Staff, JGSS Alumni vs. JGSS Varsity.
February 16, 2019 The long-awaited four-day foundation celebration had come and go. One of the main highlights of the 54th Founding Anniversary is the Field Demonstration (Variety Show) where Shepherdines wore colorful costumes and interpreted well-choreographed various festivities of the country mixed with modern music, ethno and current dances and calisthenics. For the finale, all students gathered in the field to dance along the Year of the Youth theme song, it was the moment of unity for every person in there. A crowd of supportive parents considered field demo as the highlight of the celebration for this is one of the rare chances they see their children perform, honing their skills aside from academics. Rev. Fr. Paul Marquez, SSP presided the Holy Mass for the Alumni Homecoming 2019, Fr. Paul expressed his gratitude to the Pastorelle Sisters for the annual homecoming to refresh their memories in JGSS. It was followed by a simple fellowship of the different batches – 1971, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1994 (the incoming Silver Jubilarian), 2010 and 2016. JGSS Children’s Choir performed with their resilient Choir Master, Mr. Patrick I. Frias, JGSS Alumnus. It was a simple yet meaningful gathering. A time to go down memory lane, reminiscing old friendship and delightful feeling of seeing one another. February 17, 2019 As a part of Jesus Good Shepherd School’s 54th Founding Anniversary, an annual family day celebration was held. Responsive families joined the Eucharistic Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Jun De Sagun of Imus Cathedral Parish on Family Day. Fr. Jun, a priest and an educator gave valuable reminders on family and education. As he quoted for the parents “Maging modelo ng disiplina at pagiging guro sa inyong mga anak,” and for the children, he pointed out, “Upang ang magulang ay maging hapi, mag-aral kayong mabuti.” Active parents led by PCO Chairman, Mrs. Rose Enano and FSO President, Mrs. Josephine Namuco planned the festive mood in JGSS Covered Court. Parents arranged the potluck food they brought in two long tables shared to everybody. Few families performed contemporary dance numbers. Some played the stirring games. Mrs. Zheila Herrera and Mrs. Jane De Veza volunteered as the emcees of the said occasion. Everyone had fun, and relished each activity. The memories we made with our family is everything. It was indeed the best and the biggest Family Day the school ever had. As the day ended, each family did not only got to get together and have fun, but at the same time, went home carrying different enlightening and inspiring lessons each have learned for more deep and close relationship with each other as a family.
