Answer any FIVE questions All questions carry equal marks --Explain the terms of energy index, cost index, pie charts, sankey diagrams and load profiles with suitable examples. What are energy conservation schemes? Explain the importance of energy management programmes in industries to improve the energy utilization. Explain about check list for top management. Explain the constructional features of Energy efficient motors with the help of analyzing the loss distributions in standard motors. A 40 HP motor is having the following duty cycle 40 HP – 15 minutes 20 HP – 20 minutes 10 HP – 5 minutes stop – 5 minutes. Is this motor is efficient for its operation? Discuss the recommendations. Explain the location of capacitors for the improvement of power factor. Explain the effects of harmonics on power factor. Explain the working of following instruments (i) Pyrometer (ii) Tongue Testers (iii) Data logger If a motor has an initial cost of Rs. 10000/- and its scrap value at the end of 7 years is Rs. 2000/-. Determine the book value at the end of each year by sum of years digits methods.
