Importance of Sadhana (devotion) Complete education is one, which not only imparts knowledge about various subjects of the material world but should also contain guidance for all round development of personality; solution of problems connected with life and should also give impetus for continuous advancement on the path of progress. Vidya is called nector from the same point of view that if it is all right & useful, then desired motives can be fulfilled through it. In olden times, such arrangements used to be there in sage Ashrams in Gurukuls, Aranyaks & Tirth regions. Emotional students of every age group used to reach there and their bodies were found to be substantially charged with divinity. Such institutions were honoured by calling them as mines of ‘human gems’. Nalanda & Takshshila Universities were of the same standard. Similar arrangements also were there in Bodha Vihars & Sangharams, The effect of this was such that descending of on earth and heaven glimpse of divinity in men could be seen for long. That period having the vitality of sages was called ‘Satyug’. Shantikunj has been developed in the form of a centre for timely teaching & devotion with its limited resources by adopting all the elements of the techniques of the same old education. Only syllabus is not sufficient for its management, suitable atmosphere is also to be created accordingly. Places of appropriate climate are selected for construction of sanatorium, with the result that the health of the people are improved very fast by getting treatment there in comparison to other places. The same principle applies to the higher education. From this point of view, Shantikunj is excellent place of its own kind. Situated on the bank of river Ganges and under the shadow of Himalaya, sacred grove of the seven sages etc. in addition to being gathered with various spiritual Sanskars of olden times, daily yagya is performed there in perpetual fire, the energy of devotions performed by lakhs of devotees through various devotion satras right from the very establishment of Shantikunj till now, Akhand Deepak incessantly burning from 1926 in front of which, P.P. Gurudev has performed 24 Mahapurashcharans each of 24 lakhs Gayatri Mantras, Akhand Gayatri Jap, divine protection of sages of Himalayas, this place is inspired with arduous penance performed by P.P. Gurudev & P.V. Mata Ji. Due to the specialties mentioned above, this place is such that even the simple devotions performed by common people produce distinguished effect. No arrangement has been made here in Shantikunj for teaching various material subjects, because the same exists at govt. & non-government levels. Arrangement for such a training has been made here in which every aspect of Sanjeevani Vidya i,e art of living may be included. The circle of Shantikunj is very vast & wide. Everybody knows about the dignity, utility and authenticity of this place. Therefore, they remain keen to stay here as long as they can and also to send their parijans. There is only one difficulty that the accommodation is limited for devotees and there is a limit of the teachers required for teaching. In such a situation, the policy of allowing more number of people for short periods rather than keeping less number of people for long period is considered more suitable. Those having good sanskars, can lit their lamp with one spark alone, otherwise as damp firewood will emit only smoke even after getting fire, the crowded assembly of unauthorized pupils will face the same miserable state.

Devotion Satra for Awaking of Inner Energy: Devotion Satras of other types are of 5 days duration. They are known as ‘inner Energy Awaking Satras’. These satras are generally run from Dipawali to Holi every month normally from 1st to 5th, 6th to 10th, 11th to 15th, 16th to 20th, 21st 25th & 26th to 30th. (See attached .pdf file for exact

dates.) One has to come one day earlier to participate in registration & practice, discussion about discipline. This is a special type of satra in which one has to remain silent and alone in a room. Devotion for inner energy awakening is the high level Gayatri Sadhana differently for awakening of five covering shells of the soul. In this, purification of Annamaya Kosha is done by special Havishyanna food and awakening of Pranamaya Kosha is done by Soham Sadhana and Pranayam. Tratak Sadhana helps in awakening of Manomaya Kosha. Vigyanmaya Kosha is awakened by Atmabodha Tattwabodha & inirror sadhana. Swadhyaya & Amrit Vani of P.P. Gurudev provide further nourishment to it. Anandamaya Kosha is awakened by Naad Yog & Khechari Mudra Sadhanas. All decided Sadhanas are done right from waking up in the morning till going to bed at the night, directions fro which are given through sound system in the room itself. Food for the both timings is also served in the room. This Sadhana is comparatively a difficult one. Therefore, approval is given only to those people who are physically & mentally healthy and are in a position to perform this sadhana (Only those people should apply for this sadhana who have attended minimum of one Jeewan Sadhana (9 days) satra and are taking active part in any movement of the mission). Application forms can be obtained from Shantikunj Hardwar. The same should be sent duly filled in clear words 6 to 7 months prior to the dates of the satra.
