earthquake occurred . The epicenter was 80 kilometres west-northwest of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, with a depth of 19 kilometres .

10 emergency medical teams have been
sent to Wenchuan County in southwest China's Sichuan Province . 50,000 troops and armed police were dispatched to help with disaster relief work. Rescue groups from South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Russia and Taiwan join the rescue effort .
