Asking Questions (40 min – INSTRUCTOR) a. Powerpoint i. What makes a good paper airplane? – sharp nose, crisp lines, long body. ii. How many of you have made a paper airplane? – Have class make paper airplane – no help from the internet or classmates iii. Conduct a paper airplane contest – recruit a plant to go last and ball up his/her paper and throw it. i. How did you come up with your design? ii. Did he/she win the contest? Why or Why not? b. Reflection - Creative and Critical thinking are a must in College – no more regurgitation of information. You must learn to ask questions. How can questioning lead to advances in our society?

Practice Asking Questions (20 min – PEER LEADER) a. Pose the phrase: “Failure can be good” b. Have students group up and write down every question they can think of about this statement c. Open and Close the questions – if it’s a yes or no – turn it into and open-ended question and vice versa d. Prioritize their lists – pick the top 3 favorite questions e. Come up with a plan
