Dr. Ernst F. Tonsing 60 West Olsen Road Thousand Oaks, CA 91360 August 31, 1999 Margaret and Rick Tonsing 145 Plaza Drive #508 Vallejo, CA 94591-3703 Dear Cousins: It was good to see you at the reunion in Salem! We certainly had a variety of experiences there. It was quite a time, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was sorry that we did not have enough time to talk with each other, however. Evan sent me a tape of the session on August 7, immortalizing Ralph's tantrum! One can only feel sadness for him now. I have enclosed several items for you. First is an article concerning the New Sweden Colony which I wrote several years ago and updated after I returned. It has a few things about Philadelphia. Second, Virginia brought the document called the "Thirty-Fourth Star" (yes, that is the way it is spelled on the original cover sheet). I typed it so that others of the family could have a copy. As a Kansan, it rather delighted me for its grand praise of the new state! Third, there are some pictures that were in my camera I thought you'd enjoy. Last are the documents that my father, Ernest, had drawn up. I seem to recall that I sent them to you before, but I wanted to be sure. Shortly after I returned I had a couple now studying in Rome come to stay eight days, and then we had our faculty retreat for several days, and have now begun classes. It has really been busy, but it always is at the start of a semester. Best wishes!
