Tim Writes I am very encouraged by the way our men's ministry is beginning to shape up. We had a great MENZ dinner last Monday with Andrew Dodd sharing about his time battling the Aussie bush fires and acquiring the highly desired green overalls (Ask him!). The first 4x4 group is also going very well with some stimulating discussion around being baptised in the Holy Spirit at present. Our second 4x4 looks like it will kick off very soon and I have names of some other men who could make up yet a third group. It's very encouraging to see men gathering together to pray, share and talk about things of spiritual significance. Simon Johnson from Holy Trinity will be preaching next week at Runanga and Cobden as part of his Bible College training. Simon is already a good preacher and I know we will all benefit from his being with us. TAIZE SERVICE Holy Trinity will be hosting a Taize service tonight (27th Sept) at Holy Trinity Church Hall at 7pm. We will
gather initially to learn the songs then break for a cuppa before re-gathering in candlelight for this beautiful evening of prayer in song, word and silence. All are welcome. For those who don't know Taize is reflective style of service focused around the cross. LOCKING UP COBDEN CHURCH Just a quick reminder. If you are the last person leaving the church after any service or event please ensure all the doors are locked especially the kitchen door. It's easy to do. Just push in the central button on the door handles. CHURCH TEAM FOR SOCIAL VOLLEYBALL If you're interested in playing mixed social volleyball on Mon evenings as part of a joint church team then contact Tim Mora on 768 9605 before the end of September. Cost $25/person for the season which runs into the new year. Lot's of fun and good community involvement. No experience needed but we do need at least 2 women as part of a 8-10 person squad. SHARING SHED MEETING On Wednesday at 6:30pm the Sharing Shed committee will meet at the Cobden church to discuss how everything's going. If you're on the committee please make a note in your diaries. A THIRD MEN'S 4 x 4 GROUP? As mentioned in the Vicar's Bit our second 4x4 group looks about ready to kick off but there is always room for more. If you are still interested in being a part of such a group please see Tim in the near future. AFRIKAANS SERVICE I have been invited to preach at the Afrikaans Church this Sunday afternoon at 4pm at the Baptist Church
on High Street behind the Smiths City second hand store. You are all warmly welcome to attend if you want to experience a blended Afrikaans service. DAYLIGHT SAVING If you haven't already you need to put your clocks forward 1 hour for Daylight saving. It took effect at 2am this morning. HAAKARI TAPU - MAORI SERVICE A working group made up of folk from Holy Trinity and including Rev's Richard and Mere Wallace have put together a monthly Maori service that runs at 2pm at Holy Trinity. All are welcome to come and experience a liturgical Maori Anglican service.
