Tim Writes It's quite an interesting journey that I'm on with my Dad and his cancer. It's a journey I normally I take from the other side from the perspective of a carer and supporter of others. So what am I feeling? Well firstly there is a sense of real helplessness watching as nature takes its' course unable to do much other than watch, wait, support, keep in touch and of course pray. There is also the strange feeling that with Dad going the next in line so to speak is me as the eldest son. A sense of my own mortality is coming home to roost and with it some pondering as to how to make best use of the time remaining to me. I am finding prayer to be a real help, being able to give the situation over to God and pour out my deepest feelings and heartache to him. I know too that people who are prayed for have on average have a 20% greater chance of coming through and I also believe in miracles, so I have not given up hope but at the same time if Dad is not healed I won't be blaming God for taking him or anything like that. We live
in a fallen world beset with sickness and disease and we will all die physically at some point, that's just a fact of life, there's no sense in blaming God for it. I am also deeply comforted that Dad is a believer and even if he does die soon I know he is not lost to me forever. I will see him again, and in a way more deeply than I imagined I know I believe that to be 100% true and it does temper my level of grief. Finally I am also overwhelmed a little by all the expressions of sympathy. It is deeply moving to know the number of people who care for us and our situation. And to update you Dad is not doing well. The medical team feel he is probably not going to make it so the next few weeks and months are going to be hard. Please keep us in your prayers. WORD FOR TODAY Word for Today for August to October has arrived and copies are at the back of each church. Please feel free to take one and if you can please drop a $1 or $2 into the plate to help cover the cost. Lawn Mowing Roster 26th July Tim Mora
