Leadership Theory Paradigms  The Trait Theory Paradigm 

Attempt to explain distinctive characteristics accounting for leadership effectiveness.

 The Behavioral Leadership Theory 



Attempt to explain distinctive style used by effective leaders, or to define the nature of their work. Example: Mintzberg 10 managerial roles.

Leadership Theory Paradigms  Contingency leadership theories 

Attempt to explain the appropriate leadership style based on the leader, followers, and situation

 The Integrative Leadership Theory 

Attempt to combine the trait, behavioral and contingency theories to explain successful, influencing leader-follower relationship.
