WHERE ARE THE READINGS!?

Listing a month’s worth of readings would take the entire bulletin! Don’t worry—the United States Catholic Bishops’ website lists the readings for every day. Visit them online at http://www.usccb.org/nab/

July 2009 Bulletin Schedule Due to our slower pace during the summer semester, we will be publishing monthly bulletins. Please submit any announcements for the month of August by July 23rd via the online form (see cover). Thanks! 2009 Splash for Cash! Want to win a beach towel HAND-SIGNED by Michael Phelps, Scott Spann and Katie Hoff? Swim in the annual fundraiser - Splash for Cash! for the Austin State Supported Living Center (formerly the Austin State School) a residential facility for individuals with developmental disabilities that the UCC supports through a chapel program. The swim will be Saturday, July 18th from 8-10a.m. Anyone who raises $800 or over will be in a drawing to win this towel or two other great prizes! Money raised will go towards backpacks for wheelchairs, more life vests (so that more people can swim at the Center's pool at the same time) and other equipment and activities to improve the quality of life for our special friends. We also need volunteers to sit at the pool and count people as they swim laps for money. Don't want to swim or volunteer? All donations are welcome. Weekly Reflection Question: For July 5 (Mk 6:1-6a): Jesus was rejected in his native place. Ask the Holy Spirit for assistance the next time you fear rejection or are rejected. For July 12 (Mk 6:7-13): Jesus sent the disciples out with nothing, so they could prove God provides all. How do you respond when you are called to help those with nothing? For July 19 (Mk 6:30-34): Jesus instructed the disciples to "come away … and rest." Make a commitment to set aside time this week to rest with God. For July 26 (Jn 6:1-15): How brave this boy must have been to offer to share his lunch with Jesus. What acts of bravery are you willing to accomplish for the Lord? Micah 6 Food Pantry UCC participates in the ecumenical Micah 6 food pantry through donation and volunteering on Thursdays and Saturdays. Don’t forget our “neighbors” who have nothing during the summer. Please bring canned goods and packaged dry goods to Sunday Mass for the baskets near the fountain. We ask that you continue to support the Micah 6 Food Pantry with your generous donations. Contact Jim Harrington at [email protected] for more information.
