Visual Art Class Overview
This 9-week course is filled with projects and activities that will boost your critical thinking habits, improve your collaborative participation, grow your creativity and develop your communication skills through literacy and creative works through art. We will focus our exploration of the art world through the New Tennessee Visual Art Standards, Studio Habits model and Growth Mindset Model. ● ● ● ● ●
Class Expectations
Arrive prepared and on time. Listen. Respond. Act. Create. Work in a safe zone. Be Respectful and Accountable. Keep the room positive.
Technology
Tech will be utilized as a research tool only. Students will be required to utilize applications for various class related assignments. Weekly updates and assignments will be sent out by email and will be posted on Ms. Turner’s website.
Grades
Students will be graded on a Individual grading scale but will focus on. ● Projects ● Sketchbook Journaling ● Daily Work All assignments will be graded using rubrics based on requirements that are derived from the Tennessee Visual Art Standards and the Studio Habits Model.
Missed/Late Work
Students will be given the opportunity to make up work and turn it in for credit by 2 days after returning to school. Late work will lose 5 points per day that it is late.

Materials Required
Wood #2/HB Pencil Sketchbook 9”x 6” or larger Large shirt or apron with name on it for messy days You may bring your own art supplies but are responsible for their care.

PRESENT 1.A A rtists and other presenters consider various techniques, methods, venues, and criteria when analyzing, selecting, and curating objects, artifacts, and artworks for preservation and presentation.
