Pastor Kerry Shook

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be?” 2 Peter 3:10-11 (NIV)

WHAT TIME IS IT, REALLY? 1. TIME TO RESEARCH FACTS “

Heaven and earth will disappear, but My words will never disappear. However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.” Matt. 24:35-36 (NLT) “

For many will come in My name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” Matt. 24:5-8 (NIV) “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matt. 24:14 (NIV)

2. TIME TO RENEW FAITH “

Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and highsounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.” Col. 2:7-8 (NLT)

3. TIME TO RELEASE FEARS “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” Jer.29:11 (NLT) “

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Ps.46:1-3 (NIV)

4. TIME TO REVIVE FELLOWSHIP “Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good. Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.” Heb. 10:24-25 (TEV)
