In conjunction with the Miss Georgia Peanut Pageant and the Miss Georgia Sweet Potato Pageant, we will no longer allow any queen to hold any of these three titles in the same year. Appearances for the Cotton, Peanut and Sweet Potato pageants overlap, so in fairness, we have determined that it would be best to have separate queens for each pageant. This will also help our queens by not making them decide which pageant they will represent at the various functions. Contestant numbers will be assigned in reverse order. The first application received in each age group will be the last contestant out on stage. Contestants will compete in the age division based on the contestant’s age the day of the pageant. No cameras or video cameras are allowed. We will have an official photographer and videographer. Entry fees and wallet head shot photo must accompany application or email to [email protected]. Miss Georgia Cotton Queens are role models for other females in Georgia and are expected to present themselves with poise, grace and intelligence at all times. Accordingly, contestants will be prohibited from entering the pageant if they have ever been married, pregnant or charged with a crime. Further, if a Queen exhibits behavior unbecoming of the title during her reign, the title may be forfeited, along with the cash award. The title and case award will then be awarded to the first runner-up in that age group. Such behavior shall include, but is not limited to pregnancy, fighting, being charged with a crime, or marriage. Anyone acting in a disorderly manner or displaying conduct relating to poor sportsmanship will be disqualified without a refund. No refunds unless the pageant should be canceled. Junior, Teen and Miss will be scored as follows: 40% based on a five-minute interview, 50% on beauty, poise, personality, stage presentation and overall appearance and 10% for on-stage question,. Each age group will have an introduction of themselves and their sponsor at the beginning of the pageant. Dress for this introduction will be casual wear of your choice, which needs to be made of at least 50% cotton. Business interview attire is required for personal interview segment of competition. This interview will count as 40% of the score. The interview questions will be based on the contestant’s application, general questions, current world events and cotton statistics. There will be no practice. Contestants will walk the basic T. (See the chart below). The director will email or mail each contestant a letter to the address on the application after the deadline informing each contestant of her interview time and location. Contestants must fulfill obligations during their reign to receive their scholarship funds. There are 3 parades that I ask for you to ride the float and they are: Peter Pan Parade in Sylvester on October 16, 2010 at 10 AM; Sweet Potato Parade in Ocilla on October 30, 2010 at 10 AM and; the Tifton Hometown Holidays Parade on December 4, 2010 at 5PM. Make sure you include a wallet photograph for the program book or email a picture to mary @chickashaofgeorgia.com.
