Events and Special days planned for Kindergarten for the End of the School Year Mark your calendars Congratulations to Mrs. Barker who is officially on maternity leave and the mother of a new baby girl! Welcome to Ms. Hamilton-who is covering for Mrs. Barker for the remainder of the school year. Ms. Hamilton was a student teacher at BPE in first grade this year. The week of May 11th-15th will be pretty normal for us in Kindergarten as we try to keep the students on as normal of a schedule as possible towards the end of the year. We are continuing to do assessments both for Reading Levels and Math as well as Report Cards. Be sure to practice any skills that you feel your child may need extra help with. Popcorn words, counting orally, letters and sounds and number recognition.

May 19th is the All School Talent Show- In the afternoon all students will be watching the program. There is an evening program for family members to attend. This causes lunches to be cancelled in the café due to the need of set up for the Talent Show. Students need to bring a sack lunch or lunch box including a drink on this day. Tuesday May the 19th. The café will not be serving lunches. Please be sure to send a juice box type of drink or water bottle no Soda please.

On Friday May the 22nd- Kindergarten students will have an awards celebration. The awards will take place in the blue common area right outside the Kindergarten classrooms. The schedule is very tight so please be considerate and do not enter until your designated time. (Thank you in advance) The schedule is as follows: Ms. Schortemeyer’s class awards will from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. Mrs. Stroud’s -------------------------------- 9:15-9:45 a.m. Mrs. Barker’s (Ms. Hamilton)---------------- 12:45 -1:15 p.m. Mrs. Hay’s ------------------------------------1:15-1:45 p.m. All students will receive an award on this day! welcome !

May 26th- //1st-6th graders will participate in Field Day. Kindergarten will celebrate all summer Birthdays on this day NOT FIELD DAY! No need to send in treats or any food items as they are not permitted due to food allergies. We will provide snacks and fun on this day. The café provides us with sack lunches on this day- other siblings will be bringing their lunch due to Field Day. Kindergarteners will not need a sack lunch on the 26th!

Last Day of School-May 27th- Outdoor Activity Day/and picnic lunch. Kindergarteners need a sack lunch on this day! In the a.m. students will go to their 1st grade classroom for the 2009-10 school year meet the teacher meeting. Your child will bring a letter home on this day from their new First Grade Teacher. Outdoor Activity Day (Weather Permitting) will be a time for the students to play games and do activities outdoors with their classmates and teacher. Picnic lunch will begin at 12:00 p.m. right outside the Kindergarten classrooms. Parents are welcome to come at 12:00 p.m. and eat with their child. Please bring a picnic lunch for yourself as well if you will join us. At approximately 12:40 p.m. we will be finished with lunch and you are more than welcome to take your child with you at this time. The remainder of the day will be spent watching a movie and cleaning our classrooms. Report Cards will be distributed in the morning and students still need their backpacks on the last day. We hope that the activities planned for the end of the year are fun for all! Thank you for a great 2008-09 school year. The Kindergarten Team
