T ritain’s his process was set in motion w Pakistan’s indepe ith India and ndence in 1947 and sealed by th Declaration of 19 e London 49, where the w ord ‘British’ was

dropped from th e association’s tit le to reflect the new reality. In th e following two de cades, the Commonwealth , with its comm itment to racial and national sove equality reignty, became a natural associat choice for many ion of newly independ ent nations. Issu justice became es of racial key as the Com monwealth thre behind the caus w its weight e of freedom an d equality. The Commonw ealth has thus be come a vibrant growing associat and ion of states in tu ne with the mod world.
