IGCSE & GCE EXAMINATION TIMETABLE, JUNE 2008 INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (IGCSE) GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (O/AS & A/AICE(HC)) PROVISIONAL EDITION DATED APRIL 2007

Guidelines 1

6

Copies of IGCSE Art & Design 0400 Papers 1-3 and GCE AS & A Level Art & Design 9704 Paper 01 are to be given to candidates on receipt.

About this timetable

1.1 The dates on this timetable are provisional and are likely to change. The final timetable will be issued in September 2007.

7

1.2 This timetable contains: • • •

Local Arrangements Centres are responsible for letting candidates know when examinations will start, and for telling them about any changes to the printed timetable. Any local arrangements previously agreed with CIE must be adhered to.

Notes on provisional timetable A full list, in date order, of all examinations Key to provisional timetable. This is a full list, in alphabetical order, of all examinations.

1.3 If any paper is not mentioned in the timetable, Centres must contact CIE for the examination dates.

2

IGCSE Art & Design 0400 Papers 1-3 and GCE AS & A Level 9704 Papers 01

8

Timetable clashes If a candidate is entered for two papers that are timetabled for the same session, the rules depend on the total duration of the two papers.

About the sessions

If the total duration is three hours or less: The times for sessions are: Morning sessions Afternoon sessions

both papers should be taken in the same session with a supervised break between papers. You do not need to notify CIE about this.

8.00 a.m. to 1 p.m. (0800 to 1300) 1.00 p.m. to 6 p.m. (1300 to 1800)

If the total duration is more than three hours:

Papers must be started and completed within the times shown.

you must submit a Timetable Deviation Form (INT/E24) to CIE.

3

Where there is more than one paper in a single session Please note that whenever there is a timetable deviation, candidates starting an examination at any time that is not the scheduled time, must be kept isolated from candidates who have already taken the paper. For further information about timetable clashes, please refer to the appropriate section of the CIE Handbook for Centres 2008.

3.1 If a candidate is entered for two papers of the same syllabus which are timetabled for the same examination session, they may have a short break between the two papers. 3.2 If a candidate has to sit two papers in one session, the second question paper must NOT be given out until:

4

Practical Tests in Science and Food & Nutrition

the time allocated to the first question paper has been allowed and the scripts for the first paper have been collected.

9.1 All practical papers must be taken at the times set in the timetable.

This rule applies unless the rubric of either of the question papers gives a different instruction.

9.2 If there are more candidates than there is space for in one session, the Invigilator may hold the test in two or more sessions, as long as satisfactory arrangements are made to ensure the integrity of the Examination. Arrangements must be made to ensure that there is no contact between candidates who have taken the test in the first session and those who are scheduled to take it in the second or later sessions, either at the Centre or at any other Centre.

Time Allowance for Question Papers Any time specially allocated for candidates to read through question papers and to study maps, etc., is already included in the total time allowance shown in the timetable. You must not allow any additional time.

5

9

School-based Syllabuses For school-based syllabuses, written examinations should be timetabled between 3 May and 14 May. Completed Mark Sheets must be received in Cambridge by 30 May.

*Indicates that an additional session may be held in the morning or afternoon of the same day.

10 Location Entry Codes From the June 2008 session, CIE will operate a system of entry codes based on location. In practice, this means that for some components there will now be two component codes where previously there was only one, e.g. Centres previously entering 0610/03 will be directed to enter either 0610/31 or 0610/32. The first digit of the new component code will be the current component number, so 0450/01 becomes 0450/11 and 0450/12. Location entry code information provided at the time of making entries will make clear which component Centres should enter.
