On Saturday 31st March, a group of enthusiastic and inquisitive Pandava Sena girls gathered at the Manor for a long-awaited girls Maha Sanga, an interactive session designed to encourage the youth to share their opinions on a chosen topic, guided and taught by a guest speaker. The tone of the event was set by a melodious opening kirtan, followed shortly by the introduction of the guest speaker, invited by popular demand, Ananga Sakhi Devi Dasi. Her aim was to conduct a ‘sanga’, meaning ‘association that benefits the spirit soul’.

Celebrated female personalities such as Sati, Savitri, Sita devi and Draupadi were used as role models to illustrate the ideal behaviour of women. Ananga Sakhi addressed the subject with sensitivity, style and a genuine mood of compassion. This event was an eye-opener for many of the girls who did not previously realise the importance and value placed on women in Vedic culture. It was presented in the traditional ISKCON Pandava Sena style: enriched with an aura of excitement, youthful energy and an inspirational approach to the topic in question. The enthusiasm resulting from the Maha Sanga was channelled into an energising and refreshing Harinam on the streets of London!

In groups the topic ‘Relationships between males and females as revealed by Lord Krsna in the Vedic literatures’ was discussed. The emphasis was placed upon the importance of chastity, and various relevant excerpts from the Vedic scriptures were presented.
