Consigned by Double Dollar Livestock. You would have to be totally out of the loop not to ooohh and aaahh over Shiner’s pedigree. He has had half to 7/8’s brothers dominate the reining and working cow horse world for the past decade. Even though he has had no real reining or cutting training, he will spin, slide, pin his ears and work cows! He and his colts seem to take to it like a bird dog does to going on point. To say that Shiner is laid back would be an understatement. He has been one of our dude horses, if you will, when novice friends come to the ranch. Since he has been finished in the roping pen for several years, we only rope on him once or twice a week. Therefore, our daughter Hailey, since she was seven, has been galloping him on many of the off days to keep him in shape. He is bomb proof and trustworthy. Even though he is finished on both ends, he is much stronger on the back end, being good for any # roper from beginner to professional. On the head end he would lack speed above the 13 roping. As a stud he puts a huge hip and a pretty head on most all of his colts. 15 h., 1200 lbs.

Player is a half-brother to Hickory, the horse which Quinn has won over $150,000 on and over $200,000 if you count the horse trailer, saddles, buckles, gear, etc. Player has Hickory’s same friendly, quiet disposition and athletic ability. He was pasture-bred his two, three and four-year-old years. Like our other studs, you could pull him out of the pasture in the afternoon and haul him to a roping full of mares that night, and as long as the saddle was on you wouldn’t know he was a stud. He is out of the great SAN TULE FRECKLES that won the Fort Worth Futurity and has been the top stud for the millionaire club. His dam is out of a daughter of PEPPY SAN who also won the futurity and is a full brother to MR. SAN PEPPY (Little Peppy) who also won the futurity. Player is a stud you can put your kids or grandma on, haul to the roping on either end, and with a little promo, pay for him through stud fees. We held him over this year and have been hauling him to ropings. He is a big-time heel horse. He has more run than you will ever need on the heel end. He knows exactly when and how to rate and read the corner, does everything with his back end and has a big stop and back that will face your head horse if he needs. Even though he is big and fast enough to be a head horse, he is so good on the back end we have not headed on him. He is best suited for a #5 or above roper, too quick for beginners. 15.1 h., 1250 lbs.

Quinn has been hauling him to jackpots since early summer. He is so cowy and quick that if he is out of position, it is driver error. Even though he is little, he is awesome on the head end, with plenty of speed. He handles his body so well that he doesn’t feel like a little horse. He has a big stop with no give, even on big steers. Quinn has also been breaking away on him. He would make an excellent calf horse. 14.2 h., 1110 lbs.

Quinn started winning ropings on him only a couple of months after we started roping on him. (He is a natural.) He is extremely cowy, as his pedigree would suggest, and he loves his job. Dan is not only suitable for anyone, but would make any # roper, from a complete beginner to a #10, feel well-mounted. He will also be your family’s babysitter! Even though his description makes him appear to be only for low number ropers, don’t underestimate Dan as a big-time heel horse. Tex was one of our highest selling horses a year ago, but ended up being a little too much horse for the woman who bought him so we had her bring him back in late spring. Quinn hauled him this year to the junior rodeos as his first string calf horse and backup head and heel horse. He also hauled him to a bunch of jackpots where he used him on both ends. He has really matured and seasoned a lot this year. With the exception of the four months he was gone after the sale, he has been on the ranch since the day he was born. He has seen a lot of trailing cows, mountain trails, sorting cattle in the feedlot, branding pens, not to mention all of the time in the arena. Since Tex was three years old, he has been one of Quinn’s favorite horses to use on the ranch. He should work for any # roper, except beginners on either end, calf roping or breakaway. 15 h., 1240 lbs.

Consigned by Double Dollar Livestock. Panama was bred and owned by Dan Lucas who has one of the most successful racing programs in America. He owns DEVON LANE, Panama’s father who is sire to one of this year’s grade one winners. He has also bred very successfully into the Quarter Horse industry. DEVON LANE is out of STORM CAT, the world champion Thoroughbred running horse whose current stud fee is $500,000. The amazing part of Panama is with all of this running genetics, Hailey, our ten-year-old goes out in the corral and catches, bridles and saddles him all by herself. She also uses him on the ranch. Even though he is laid back on the ranch and even when you are doing slow pattern runs, he, however, has too much power for Hailey when she opens him up. He was started on the barrels by Tracy Ash from California. Since he got to the Double Dollar, we have used him extensively on the ranch and have continued to bring him along slowly on the barrels. By sale time he will have had a great foundation and will be ready to start adding the heat to. Any of you who know Greg well, knows that he doesn’t have much use for running-bred horses, but bought this one because of his exceptional disposition to go along with his speed and smooth athletic ability. This horse originally came off a west Texas ranch and was started as a head horse by Greg Kernick, the rodeo coach at Big Springs TX. Shane Sproul placed on Scotty in the first round of Tucson and won the second round of Scottsdale. This horse has been ridden at Houston and twice at the George Strait. The Smith family has operated a breeding program in Eastern Oklahoma, raising foundation quarter horses the early 1900’s. Raised with calf and nd d team ropers, Michael has passed his love of horses and roping on to his sons, Justin and Jacob who also help with the business. Michael graduated ed from Connors State College with an AD in Animal Science and was trained as a veterinary technician at the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hossspital in Oklahoma State Univ. He received his reproduction education at Ohio State Univ. under Walter Threlfall. Stacy graduated outstanding senior or with a BS in Animal Science from OSU, then went on to receive her Dr. of Veterinary Medicine from OSU as well. This breeding program has been en going on for generations and has proven itself over time. Jason Thomas, Canyon, TX 320 acres of grassland and a stocker calf operation preconditioning lightweight calves for grazing purposes located in Canyon, Texas. All of Jason’s cattle are started in a set of pens and then go to pasture. Darwin and Shirlene Hall, Virgin, UT The Halls have been riding and competing for more than 40 years. They started their horse herd with a granddaughter of Steel Bars. Since they had one of the best horses around, the Halls bred the mare to outside stallions and trained the colts themselves. Darwin has always been a natural horseman with the good sense to know that he can always learn more. They now stand a stallion by Peppy Humo by Mr San Peppy and have a small string of brood mares. The horses they produce have cow, disposition and athletic ability. The babies learn to handle themselves in the southern Utah desert pastures, are supplemented by hand and handled from the time they are born. The Halls start all their horses as Reiners and want them broke enough to compete as three and four-year-olds in the Reining and Working Cow. They also want them to have a lot of miles on the range before starting to rope. The Halls continue to reinforce this foundation in order to turn out versatile horses.

As a heel horse he is quiet in the box, starts hard, turns the corner just right and stops hard at the end. They started him as a reining horse. Lead changes, spins and slide stops came naturally to him. They have used him a great deal to go over the mountain or gather cows. The Boy Scouts used him to pass the Horsemanship merit badge. They hate to see him go because he is one of their favorites. Reese’s mother was the 2000 Color Country All-Around Horse, 2001 County Super Horse, and a 2002 AQHA Ranch Horse winner, among winning many other awards. He is now the mount of choice for their seven-year-old granddaughter. Reese’s sire died this year so he is one of a limited edition of the line of Mr San Peppy to Peppy Humo to Reese’s sire, Peppys Leo Snipper, who produced many great horses. Matt Sherwood, Snowflake, AZ Matt is a professional team roper, horse trainer and gives roping lessons. In 2006 he was crowned the World Champion Team Roping Header. His skills as a trainer have been shown through his horse, Nicholas, who won Horse of the Year that same year. Matt bought him as a yearling and went on to raise and train him. Nicholas originally started out as a heel horse, but quickly made the transistion to a heading horse when Matt decided to switch ends. Matt’s goals for the future include the National Finals for a few more years and to continue raising his seven children, teaching heading/heeling clinics and training horses.

He has used him for his first string ranch horse all year. For those of you who know Quinn would, therefore, know this horse could claim to have been everywhere and done everything. To say he has dragged calves to the fire would be a gross understatement. Quinn thinks the only purpose for cows is to rope and trip, rope and drag or rope and stretch. Thus, Buckshot has done all of these on a regular basis. He is great in the mountains and with all ranch duties. Quinn has also proven, on a number of occasions, that Buckshot will go all day without quitting. Consigned by Double Dollar Livestock. The best description of this mare would be to tell what happened the day we got her in to start riding. (She hadn’t been saddled for three years.) Just as we were saddling her to work in the round pen, we got a call that cows were out at the east end of the ranch. Remembering how good w she was as a two-year-old, we just jumped her in the trailer. It was like she had never had a break! She is a pretty, dark gray with long mane and tail. When we went to halter her the week after we weaned, she just stood there and let us halter her. Then we led her off like someone had played a trick on us and already gentled her and taught her to lead. Bernie Lee, a Nebraskan John Wayne by heart had been raising Quarter and Paint horses for 50 years. During those years his horses have supported 4-H’ers, Little Britches, high school and intercollegiate rodeo, registered Quarter and Pain horse show riders, as well as rodeo queens, hunter jumpers, trail riders, Hollywood stunt trainers and a national winner in police work crowd control. These three mares Larry is offering at the Double Dollar Sale have been used to train people in their Saddle Soar Intern programs. Paul and Robin Tierney, Oral, SD Greg visited the Tierney’s last year after the sale to hunt some birds and to see their horse operation. Greg’s comment was, “How do you do all this work yourselves?” Their reply was, “We are just too particular to let anybody but family ride our horses.” They raise these horses that are in the sale; they ride them and train them themselves. SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS PAYMENT: Terms of the sale are cash, check. Visa, or Master Card. (U.S. Funds). A 3% office processing fee will be added to all purchases. This fee will be discounted for purchases paid by cash, or check. Registration Papers will be retained by Double Dollar Livestock until checks clear the paying institution. Any person writing an insufficient funds check will be charged a $100 returned check fee and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. BIDDING: The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. We act only as an agent for consignors in the sale. Any disputes regarding consigned horses will be between the buyer and seller. However, if a dispute should arise in the first ten days after the sale and parties cannot come to an agreement, both parties consent to allow Double Dollar Livestock to act as sole mediator in settling the dispute. The decision of Double Dollar Livestock shall be final. LIABILITY: Any person attending this sale does so at his own risk.. Individual health papers with a Coggins Test will be issued for shipment in the US.
