Visit to the Orphanage, 26th March 2006. The devastation caused by the Tsunami and earthquakes in Aceh and Pulau Nias over a year ago is still being felt by many children who had lost their parents. Approximately 60 of these children are still being sheltered in the Taman Getsamane Kasih orphanage in Medan, North Sumatra. As an expression of their concern for the children, Central Council Indonesia (NorthSumatra), along with Bro. Wee Lin from Singapore visited the orphanage, wherein they conducted several fun-filled activities and brought some cheer to the children. The volunteers sang human value songs with them and each child was then given a bag carrying goodies and few stationery items. On behalf of the institution, the head, Pt. Cornelius Simangunsang STh, received food provisions (50kg rice, 5 boxes instant noodles and 1 packet tea). On a personal front, Bro. Wee Lin contributed 2 hearing aids to children with hearing impairment. The joy that emanated from the children’s faces from the visit, brought contentment to everybody around.
