When He prepared the heavens, I was there: when He set a compass upon the face of the depth: when He established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: when He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the Earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him; rejoicing in the habitable part of His Earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.” 2 Samuel 1:24-- “Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.” Isaiah 13:17-- “17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.” Malachi 3:10-12-- “‘Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith’, saith the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. humans in relating to God: Job 22:23-26-- Eliphaz exhorted Job, “‘If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.’” Job 27:8-10-- “‘For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call upon God?’” Job 34:5-9-- Elihu proclaims, “For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression. What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? Who goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. For he hath said, ‘It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’” Malachi 2:17-- “Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, ‘Wherein have we wearied Him?’ When ye say, ‘Every one who doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delighteth in them’; or, ‘Where is the God of judgment?’ Psalms 22:6-8-- King David said, “But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. Isaiah 58:1-2-- “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.” Isaiah 58:13-14-- “If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words; then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the Earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” What conclusions did you come to? Who and what should you delight in and who and what should you not delight in?
