Flashback. Interior. Hotel Room – Australia. (Day). We see Sun folding some clothes and putting them into a suitcase as Jin walks into the room. Jin: (Subtitled) Did you pack the watch? Sun: (Subtitled) I put it in your carry-on bag. Jin: (Subtitled) Thanks. We’ll go straight there when we get to L.A. That way we get to make the most of the week there. Sun smiles at Jin as she zips up the suitcase. Sun: (Subtitled) Do you remember who you need to deliver it too? Jin: (Subtitled) Yes. Mr. Widmore is in L.A. on business. We’re arranged to meet him in three days. Sun:

(Subtitled) I can’t wait to get home. Jin: (Subtitled) Me neither. I miss our bed. Sun laughs and kisses Jin. Sun: (Subtitled) I gotta go to the bathroom. Could you call the cab? Jin: (Subtitled) Sure. Jin picks up the hotel phone and begins to dial a number as Sun walks into the bathroom with a lavatory bag. The camera focuses on the bag as she walks into the room as we see a pregnancy test poking out of the top. The flashback sound begins... Exterior. Jungle. (Afternoon). The camera follows as Locke, Kate, Luke, Hurley and Jack make their way through the jungle. Hurley: How long is it till we’re back at the beach? I’m hungry. Locke: We’ll be at the hatch in a couple of hours. Around nightfall. Hurley sighs and falls silent as they continue through the jungle. The camera cuts to Jack as he walks. Kate slows down to allow Jack to catch up with her. As Kate is about to say something to Jack, she stops and stares into the trees at their side. Jack follows her gaze as he sees a wisp of black smoke darting amongst the trees. Jack turns to Kate who answers his question without him needing to ask. Kate: Yeah... I saw it. The camera fades to black.

-LOSTExterior. Jungle. (Afternoon). As the group continue through the jungle Locke stops walking, causing the other’s to stop also. Locke: You hear that? The others fall silent to listen and we hear it. The faint clicking of the monster. Locke slowly takes his pack of his back and lowers it to the ground. In the background, we see Jack doing the same. Luke: Run!! Luke, Kate, Hurley and Jack run off into the jungle but Locke remains there, wanting to see the monster. Locke gazes up at the top of the trees as the top branches are pulled aside. Before we get a glimpse of it, the camera changes to the point of view (POV) of the monster as it gazes down at Locke. A bright light engulfs him once again. A few images flash faintly onto the screen against the white background: 1) Locke lying on the beach trapped by the sheet of metal – crash day. 2) Locke looking down at the corpses in the caves. 3) Locke looking up at the plane in the canopy as Boone climbs up the cliff. 4) Locke and Sayid looking up at the monster. As the last image flashes onto the screen the whiteness suddenly turns black. The camera changes back to look at Locke as he gazes up at the monster. The camera follows his gaze but nothing is there. Suddenly something grabs Locke’s leg and he is yanked backwards. The camera cuts to Jack running through the jungle as he turns and see’s Locke being dragged through the jungle.

Jack: Oh, God! Jack runs back towards Locke as the camera cuts to Locke as he is dragged through the jungle. He grunts as he shoots backwards being dragged by whatever it is that is dragging him. The camera cuts back to Jack chasing after him as we see Kate running after him. The camera cuts back to Locke as he is suddenly dragged down a large hole. Jack leaps and manages to grab onto Locke. Kate catches up with them. Jack: (Grunting) My pack... get the dynamite. Kate: What? Jack: Quick! Go! Kate runs off into the jungle as Jack tries to retain his grip on Locke. Locke: Just let me go, Jack. I’ll be ok. Jack: Shut up, Locke! Locke: Jack, you could get killed here. The others... they need you. Just let me go! Jack: I swear to God! Shut up! As Locke is about to say something back to Jack, Kate appears holding a sodden cloth. She looks confused. Jack: Throw it! Into the hole!

Kate: What? Jack: Just do it! I don’t know how much longer I can hold on. Kate looks both confused and scared as she lobs the dynamite down into the hole. A moments pause and BANG!! The dynamite explodes and the monster releases its grasp on Locke. As the smoke from the explosion fades the camera pans up. We see a cloud of black smoke floating above the hole. Before we can get a proper look at it, it darts of into the jungle. Locke, Kate and Jack watch it with confused faces as the flashback sound begins... Flashback. Interior. Australian Airport – Check-In Area – Australia. (Morning). We see Locke sat down in his wheelchair waiting for something. He looks pissed off. A woman walks up to him. Woman: I guess it’s your lucky day, Mr. Locke. We found the wheelchair that we use to help get the less-abled passengers onto the planes. Locke: Thanks. Locke looks down at the ground. Woman: I’ll just go and get Billy... and then we’ll get you loaded onto the plane. The camera cuts to: Interior. Oceanic 815. (Morning). We see a man and woman straining as they carry Locke onto the plane. They lower him into his seat.

Woman: If there’s anything you need... don’t hesitate to call for us, Mr. Locke. Locke: Thanks. The man and woman walk off and Locke reaches for the information pamphlet in the back of the chair in front of him. It slips from his grasp and falls to the floor. Locke leans forward to get the pamphlet but he can’t reach. As he strains to get it, the flashback sound begins... Exterior. Jungle. (Afternoon). We see a group of people walking through the jungle. We recognise several of them as Sawyer, Howard and Carnes. The group moves apart slightly and we see someone stood in the middle with a hood over their head. Michael. Howard moves forward and pulls the hood of Michael’s head. Michael blinks several times as his eyes become accustomed to the light. Michael: You killed her! Oh, my God! I killed her! Michael looks like he is fighting back tears. Sawyer: Relax, Mike. You didn’t kill her. It wasn’t your fault. Michael: Where’s Walt? I want my son back! Carnes: How is it he knows about Walt anyway? I thought his memory was wiped along with the others. Sawyer: No... Before the helicopter came, I approached him and told him who I really was. I told him to do as I told him to do and he’d get his son back.

Carnes: Does ‘he’ know that you told him? Sawyer: No, he doesn’t. But does it matter? Carnes: But--. Sawyer: (Cutting him off) Shut up, you! We have work to do! As the Others move off into the jungle with Michael, the flashback sound begins... Flashback. Interior. Hotel Room – Australia. (Morning). Walt is sat on his bed playing on a hand-held game consol. Michael walks into the room and puts down a suitcase. Michael: You finished packing yet, Walt? Walt: Yeah, I finished before. Before we go to the airport, could we make a stop to get batteries? Michael: Sure. Michael walks out of the room and the camera cuts to the bathroom as Michael dials a number into his cell phone. After a moment, a woman answers. Woman: Hello? Michael: Mom? It’s me. The plane leaves in a few hours. I just wanted to tell you.

Michael’s Mom: Oh, alright. I’ll see you tonight then. How’s Walt? Did the holiday take his mind off his mom? Michael: Yeah... I think so. Listen mom... I think there’s something up with Walt. Something weird. Things happen around him... weird things. He was talking about this bird that he was doing a project on at school... and the bird appeared out of no where. Michael’s Mom: Coincidence? Michael: I don’t think so... The camera cuts back to Walt sat on the bed in the bedroom. A beeping comes from the game consol as the screen fades out. Walt: Oh, man! Walt glances down at the floor and see’s a photo. He picks it and his eyes begin to water. The camera shows the photo and we see that it is a photo of Walt’s mother. Walt: (Sobbing) Mom... Voice (O.S.): Walt? Walt looks up and his eyes widen in shock. The camera pans round and we see Walt’s mother, Susan stood there. The music reaches it’s peak as the camera fades to black. Commercial Break. Exterior. Jungle. (Night).

We see Locke and Jack walking through the jungle. The camera briefly shows Kate, Hurley, Libby and Luke walking ahead of them. The camera cuts back to Locke and Jack as Jack stops Locke. Locke: Don’t... the dynamite. Jack: Let it blow up then. What was that? Back there? With the cloud of smoke! “Let me go?” Locke: I would have been ok. Jack: Yeah? How do you know that? Locke: Everything happens for a reason, Jack. If the island sent its minion to dispose of me... You should have let it happen. Jack: The island? Locke: You see... that’s how me and you differ, Jack. You’re a man of science. Jack: And what does that make you? Locke: Me? I’m a man of faith. I knew the island would have saved me from the monster. Just like I knew it would show me a way to open the hatch. Jack: The hatch? What’s so important about that hatch? Locke:

Don’t you see it? The hatch it everything. All roads lead here, Jack. Everything that has happened to us here so far has lead up to this moment. Jack: It nearly killed Boone. Locke: The island gave him a second chance. How about you give me one? A pause, Locke looks at Jack defiantly. Locke: Every single one of use was brought here for a reason, Jack. Jack: And what brought us here, John? Locke: Destiny did, Jack. Destiny did. As Jack contemplates on what to say the camera cuts to a flashback without using the sound. This scene is muted with only the music playing. Flashback. Interior. Oceanic 815. (Morning). We see Jack stood up at the aisle putting his back away in an overhead compartment. He glances down at Kate who is already sat in her seat and he smiles at her. She looks shifty. The camera cuts to Locke who is sat behind Jack, watching him. Jack looks down at Locke and smiles at him. Locke smiles back. The camera cuts to Claire as she makes her way along the aisle with her bag. She reaches her seat and attempts to put it in the overhead compartment. She fails. Artz, who is sat near her, helps her to put the bag in and she says something to him. (Thanks). The camera cuts to Michael and Walt on the plane as Walt is playing on his game console again. Michael smiles at Walt who smiles back. Walt glances up again as Hurley walks past, sweating. He sits down beside Boone and Libby and they begin to talk. The camera cuts to Rose who is reading a

magazine before cutting to Sayid and Nadia. Nadia is examining her engagement ring before she kissed Sayid. It cuts to Sun and Jin sat beside Luke. Jin is examining the watch intended for Mr. Widmore. It then cuts to Charlie who is sat at the back of the fuselage reading a book. The camera remains on him for a moment before it pans up to show who is sat behind Charlie. We see that Sawyer is sat there! On the plane!! The flashback sound begins... Exterior. Jungle. (Night). We see Boone stood in the jungle watching Sayid who is in the middle of digging a hole. The scene cuts to later when the hole is fully dug. Sayid begins to cry as he lifts up Nadia’s corpse and lowers her into the hole. The camera cuts to: Exterior. Jungle – Hatch. (Night). Jack and Locke catch up with the others and Jack lowers his pack from his back. He looks over at Kate who is looking around, frantically. Kate: Where the hell are the others?! Jack looks around and realizes for the first time that the rest of the survivors aren’t there. The camera pans over to Locke, not seeming to care. Locke: I’ll set up the dynamite. The camera pans back to Jack looking pissed that Locke doesn’t care about the rest of them. Locke steps onto the hatch and begins to take the dynamite out of his bag. Jack: Hurley, can you take the rest of these sticks back there? Hurley, who is holding a burning torch, looks uneasy. Hurley:

Umm... sure. Can I have a flashlight? Cos the whole... fire next to the dynamite... not making a whole lot of sense to me. Jack hands Hurley the flashlight and Hurley takes the bag off into the jungle. The camera cuts to Locke as he finalizes the dynamite. He then takes the wire out and feeds it into the dynamite sticks. He hands it to Kate who then reels it out. Locke moves away from the dynamite into the jungle. Kate continues to reel the wire out as Hurley comes back into the clearing. He trips and drops the flashlight on the ground. Hurley stoops low to pick up the flashlight which as dropped beside the hatch. He stops and stares at the side of the hatch. Hurley: Oh, no. The camera pans over to what Hurley is looking at – the numbers on the side of the hatch!! Hurley jumps up. Hurley: No! No! Stop it, no! Hurley runs up to Locke who is beginning to light the wire. Hurley: Don’t do it! The numbers are bad! The numbers are bad! Locke lights the wire and it trails back towards the hatch. The camera is inside the shaft as the door is pushed away. The camera cuts back to above them as Jack glances at Locke, who looks back at him. They both peer down into the hatch as the camera cuts to the shaft once more,

pointed up at them. It begins to descend into the hatch with Jack and Locke getting smaller and smaller. As they get so small that they are barely visible, the camera begins to turn round. But before we can see whatever is inside, the camera cuts to: Exterior. Beach. (Night). We see the Others leading Michael out onto the beach. His hands are still tied up. The camera pans round to show the ocean as we see a small tug-boat bobbing in the water. The camera pans back round to Michael as Sawyer undoes the rope around his hands. We see a man walking from the boat who is revealed to be Tom! Tom: Come on, let’s get this over with. Tom grabs Michaels arm and leads him down to the ocean. Michael: I want to see my son! Tom: He’s on the boat... The camera pans round to the boat as Michael rushes over to it. He jumps into the boat and we see Walt sat in it. His face expands in a massive grin as he hugs Michael. Walt: Dad! Michael: Walt! Oh, my God! Are you ok? Tom sticks his head over the side of the boat. Tom: Follow a bearing of 305. And you’ll find rescue.

Tom walks away from the boat as Michael takes the controls. With his arm around Walt, Michael drives the boat away from the beach and away from the island. Michael and Walt leave. The camera cuts to: Interior. Hatch Shaft. (Night). We see Kate dangling on a rope as she is lowered into the hatch. She has a flashlight in her hand which is pointed downwards. We hear something down in the hatch and Kate shouts up at Locke: Kate: I think there’s something down here! The camera cuts to Locke who is lowering Kate into the hatch by the rope. Before Kate can say anything else, the rope is pulled forwards Locke is dragged forwards but he manages to remain above ground. He pulls on the rope but it is slack. Kate is gone! Man: Yeah... We did. But... What exactly is it?

Woman: That’s what we’re going to have to find out. The woman walks over to a computer at the side of the room and she types something into it and an image flashes up onto the screen. It is of a glass cylinder. Suddenly, a beeping sound begins throughout the room. Man: What’s wrong? Woman: I don’t know...
