Keeping Our Children Safe Last class scheduled is October 21. Our next field trip is October 30. Please take the class if you haven’t!
Field trip Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville is planned on Friday, October 30. We will leave school around 9:45 and return in the afternoon before school is dismissed. The cost of this field trip is $4.00. A permission form will be coming home next week.
New reading unit started last week. What that means is… 1) spelling words need to be studied every week for the spelling test on the last day of each school week. 2) more individual reading in school 3) we are now building on the academic material learned in Kindergarten. 4) sight words need to be reviewed frequently...all flash cards should be returned to school daily.
MATH flash cards are now coming home in a plastic bag. Please review those nightly or at least close to nightly. Committing them to memory is our goal. Using fingers and other manipulatives are fine for now.
Officer Bryant Washington of the K-9 Unit SJPD will be giving a presentation on Tuesday, October 20, to the 1st grade class. He will be bringing Jago– his dog partner with him. Please let me know if your child is afraid of dogs.
Collaboration Day is on Friday. Please pick-up your child at 12:00. Any child not picked-up by 12:05 will be escorted to Homeroom.
