Course Venue : Hopeman Village Hall 

A good facility with 3 rehearsal rooms and heating situated in the heart of Hopeman. In the hall, an up-to-date kitchen with all appliances for storing & cooking food as well as making drinks is available throughout the 5 days and course members are welcome to use these facilities if they wish to do so. The hall has M/F toilets and shower. All shops, B&B’s, caravan site etc. are within close walking distance from the course venue. Breaks during the course Biscuits, milk, tea and coffee will be provided during playing sessions and is included in the course price. Lunch & Supper is incorporated in to the fee for course members. Lunch will be a light refreshment and supper more substantial with a glass of wine. During the 2006 course, all members helped to create the meals in the village hall kitchen. We very much enjoyed the communal meals and would like to keep this feature. Typical lunch : soup & sandwiches. Vegetarians will be catered for.

Typical supper : fresh poached/grilled salmon & salad, fruit & ice cream.

Spouses/partners/friends are welcome to join us for a meal(s). There will be a cost as follows : cost per lunch £2.50 / per supper £5.00 per person. Please give 24hrs notice to allow us to cater for extra people. NB Breakfast has not been scheduled into the course fee. Location Hopeman is a small, friendly old fishing village on the B9040 road following the Moray Firth coastal route. The village is easily accessed by car, air and by train. The following places are within easy reach of Hopeman : Lossiemouth (6miles east) west)

The nearest airport is Inverness Airport – 24 miles from Hopeman. Inverness airport is close to Nairn and transport from Nairn is available by train & bus to Elgin. If advance notice is given, the course director will arrange for you to be collected from the airport and taken to your accommodation in or near Hopeman. A regular train service from Aberdeen to Inverness return stopping at all stations (inc. Elgin) is available. There is no longer a train service from Elgin to Hopeman. A Bluebird bus service is available from Elgin to Hopeman to Burghead return. (All mileage details are approximate)

3 Climate The summer is usually warm with a refreshing cool breeze from the sea. Walking boots, anorak and cardigan are useful garments to have as well as your normal summer clothes. During the autumn, the weather can be a little colder with a tinge of an Artic breeze.

General Facilities in Hopeman Car hire at Hopeman Filling Station & at Arnold Clark’s in Elgin Hopeman Post Office – cheques/credit cards/cash withdrawal at counter & machine, PO sales, cakes, biscuits, stationary, gifts, newspapers, etc. The Costcutter Shop – selection of ready made meals to be heated up & fruit plus the usual groceries.
