So that we may keep your dear ones in prayer, we invite you to write the names of your beloved dead in our Book of Remembrance. This book will be in the atrium until All Souls Day, next Sunday, November 2, when it will be blessed at the 5:00 Mass. We also invite you to bring pictures and mementos of your loved ones for a special display near the Book of Remembrance. The Paschal Candle, symbol of Christ's resurrection over death, will be lit near the book each time we celebrate the Eucharist during the entire month of November. Next weekend’s Black Bag is for Catholic Relief Services. CRS is the international humanitarian agency of the U.S. Bishops. Conscience and the Catholic Voter Pope Benedict has called upon us to build what he and Pope John Paul II have called “a civilization of love,” a civilization where the rights and dignity of each person-especially those who are most vulnerable, the unborn and the frail elderly-are respected from the moment of conception until natural death; where the family, based on the love of husband and wife, welcomes children into the world and imparts to them the truths and values that make good citizens; where the hungry and homeless are assisted, the immigrant welcomed, the environment protected, and all legitimate paths to peace are pursued. It is in light of that task of ours that we evaluate the moral quality of what is proposed by candidates and public officials, and work proactively for the ongoing transformation of our society.
Weekly Reflection Question: How do you fulfill the greatest commandment? What more must you do to fulfill it?
Fr. Isaac Hecker, CSP, Founder of the Paulists, pray for us!
Compass Bible Study! Meeting on Thursday nights from 7-8 pm in the St. Francis Room, Compass is a fun and laid-back way to read scripture and get a little more out of Mass. Every week we spend an hour discussing the next Sunday’s readings and sharing our faith. We are student run, student led, and totally low time commitment, so drop by whenever you can. Come hang out with us this Thursday! Diocesan Offices Moving! The Diocese of Austin will be moving into their new offices near US 290 East and IH-35 between now and November 4th. E-mail is the best form of contact for anyone who works at the Diocese until the move is complete as most offices will be changing to new phone numbers.
