Introduction

Mathur’s Co. Ltd. plans to open a medium-sized professional Chinese restaurant titles as “WOTS

IN THE WOK”

in Malviya Nagar with a capacity of serving 100 guests,

providing perfect original Chinese food including Ala Cart, Buffet, Beverages, and outdoor catering service . The restaurant will be located on Opposite side of World Trade Park, JLN Marg, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur. The restaurant will meet the great market demand.

Malviya Nagar, JLN Marg is a prosperous business location because this area is the main entertainment hub of the city in the afterhours. Also it is the Airport connecting road and the presence of Fortis Hospital, Genpact Call Centre and the Union Bank of India will serve more potential guests. The potential customers of the restaurant consist of individual business travelers, managers from export companies, customers or clients of companies, people who want to hold business gatherings or parties, white collars, family customers, young couples & lovers, and individual walk-in guests. The total budget of this plan is about Rs.70,00,000. And the company needs a loan of Rs.21,00,000 from the bank to rent the place, purchase new furniture and equipment, and offer new services. It is a professional restaurant. It will surely satisfy the customer’s needs, increase the revenue and profit, and improve the financial statements. The restaurant occupies an area of about 310 square meters, which can serve 120 guests on weekdays and 180 guests at the weekends or on special occasions. So, the management needs to hire about 20 employees for such a large place.

It is expected that the restaurant can run successfully because the company has done much preparatory work on the feasibility and necessity of opening such a restaurant, including collecting customer profiles, carrying out customer surveys, analyzing the present market situation, and consulting some experts and consultant groups.

In order to get a clearer idea of the market situation of local Chinese restaurants, our company arranged some free and open talks with eight focus groups, each representing a clearly defined group of people. The eight focus groups include 8 managers of the local 4

companies, 10 frequent business travelers, 20 white collars, Women’s and men’s from different families, 15 pairs of young couples, 20college students , 20 individual walking guests in the local main street, 10 employees currently working in local Chinese restaurants. Through the discussion, we found out their main complaints were mostly about the following aspects: local restaurants are too simple , ambience not good, lack of choices; no good buffet is offered; no restaurants serves professionally .

The above opinions contribute to our decision on the exact objectives of the business. Our company believes that all the above can undoubtedly encourage and enable our company to run the business well. Mathur’s Co. Ltd plans to open a Chinese restaurant in Jaipur. The whole project needs a budget of Rs.70,00,000. There are two shareholders. Mathur’s Co. Ltd invests Rs.21,00,000, occupying 30% of the whole investment. And the other shareholder, Mr. Malay Mathur, invests Rs.28,00,000, occupying 40% of the whole investment. The restaurant needs to grant a loan of Rs.21,00,000 from the bank.

And it is estimated that the restaurant will bring great profit: the goal of the first fiscal year is to make a profit of Rs.40,00,000 (approx.) and get all the investment returned within 2 years from the opening. For approx. one and half year it will cover its fixed cost and after that it will earn profit.
