STANDARD 7 INTERNSHIP ELCC ASSESSMENT #4 (REQUIRED) INTERNSHIP/CLINICAL PRACTICE Linda Morford Eastern Illinois University Dean Halverson Western Illinois University Joseph Pacha Illinois State University STANDARD 7: The internship provides significant opportunities for candidates to synthesize and apply the knowledge and practice and develop the skills identified in Standards 1-6 through substantial, sustained, standards-based work in real settings, planned and guided cooperatively by the institution and school district personnel for graduate credit. (p. 9)
A
ssessment #4 is a required assessment that must demonstrate that the candidates’ knowledge, skills, and dispositions covering all six standards are applied effectively in the internship/clinical practice. According to the ELCC website (2006), possible assessments include “faculty evaluations of candidates’ performances, internship/clinical site supervisors’ evaluations of candidates’ performances, and candidates’ formative and summative logs and reflections” (p. 11). In addition, programs are also required to submit a one-page description of how the internship/clinical experiences were designed to meet ELCC Standard #7. The following assessment is designed to be used by both the candidate’s site supervisor and the university supervisor. completed that demonstrate that each standard and element have been met and then submit a copy to both the university supervisor and the site supervisor. Together, the site supervisor and university supervisor complete the assessment (Educational Leadership Constituent Council, 2007).
