WEST PLAINS YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL RULES SUPPLEMENT 11-12 BOYS (MAJOR DIVISION)
1.
TIME OF GAME IS 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES OR 5 INNINGS (WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST). TEAM LINEUPS MUST BE TURNED IN 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE GAME. A NEW INNING WILL NOT START AFTER THE TIME LIMIT, BUT EACH INNING STARTED WILL BE COMPLETED IF NECESSARY. GAMES CALLED BECUASE OF RAIN WILL NOT HAVE TO BE FINISHED IF 3 INNINGS WERE COMPLETED (2 ½ IF HOME TEAM AHEAD). GAMES WILL BE COMPLETED IF THERE IS A 10 RUN LEAD AFTER 3 INNINGS. IF THE GAME IS TIED AFTER THE LAST INNING, THE GAME MUST CONTINUE UNTIL THE TIE IS BROKEN.

A TEAM MUST HAVE 8 PLAYERS PRESENT AT GAME TIME, OR FORFEIT THE GAME. ALL PLAYERS MUST PLAY A MINIMUM OF 2 INNINGS PER GAME. PLAYERS ARRIVING LATE WILL BE PLACED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LINEUP. THERE WILL BE FREE SUBSTITUTION.

TEAMS WILL BAT THIER ENTIRE LINEUP OR A MINIMUM OF 10 BATTERS. A TEAM WILL BAT UNITL THEY BAT THE LINEUP OR MAKE 3 OUTS (WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST). THE LAST BATTER MUST BE ANNOUNCED TO THE UMPIRE BEFOR BATTING. THE LAST BATTER IN AN INNING CAN SCORE UNLESS HE IS PUT OUT, THE THIRD OUT IS MADE AHEAD OF HIM, OR A PLAY IS MADE SO THAT BE CANNOT ADVANCE. IF THE LAST BATTER WALKS, HE MUST TAKE HIS BASE. IF THERE ARE RUNNERS ON BASE, THEY MOVE UP ONE BASE. INNING OVER.

RUNNERS MUST TRY TO SLIDE AT ANY BASE, WITH FIRST BASE BEING AN EXCEPTION, WHEN A PLAY IS BEING MADE ON HIM. THE RUNNER CANNOT “TAKE OUT” A DEFENSIVE PLAYER, AND THE UMPIRE CAN CALL A RUNNER “OUT” FOR NOT SLIDING.

A COURTESY RUNNER FOR THE CATCHER IS MANDATORY WITH TWO OUTS.
6.
SHOES WITH METAL SPIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED.
7.
NO GAME SHALL START AFTER 9:29 P.M.; THE GAMES THAT ARE A MISSED WILL BE MADE UP AT A LATER DATE.
8.
IF CATCHER DROPS BALL ON THIRD STRIKE, THE BATTER IS STILL OUT.
9.
INFIELD FLY IS IN EFFECT.
10.
YOU CAN PLAY 4 OUTFIELDERS AND BAT EVERYONE.
