The Conquest 1405 B.C. – 1375 B.C. Key Topics • Entering the Promised Land (Joshua 1-5:12) • Conquering The Promised Land (Joshua 5:13-12:24) • Dividing the Promised Land (Joshua 13:1-24:33) Joshua took it upon himself to lead the nation by cleansing the land of wickedness and destroying all traces of idol worship. Israelites reaffirmed their commitment to God by setting out to cross the River Jordan to posses the promise land. Main Event • First Period of Chinese Literature established. Intricate clock used in Egypt (1400 B.C.) Judges 1375 B.C. – 1050 B.C. Key Topics • Reign Of David (1 Chronicles 10:1– 29:30) • Reign of Solomon (2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31) • The Decline of Solomon (2 Chronicles 36:19-36:22, 23) A period spanning over 400 years in which Israel was ruled by a monarchy. David was a well known king during this period. Solomon helped built Israel into a great political and economical empire during this era. Main World Event • City of Peeking built. California Indians build wood-reed houses (1000 B.C.) The Divided Kingdom 930 B.C. – 586 B.C. Key Topics • Revolt of northern tribes (1 Kings 12:1-22:53) • Elijah (1 Kings 17:1-2 Kings 2:11) • Elisha (1 Kings 19:16-2 Kings 13:20) God was determined to divide the kingdoms to be ruled by separate kings. The northern kingdom was ruled by Jeroboam, who ruled with a false religion. The southern kingdom was ruled without faith and demised a century after the northern collapsed.
