#1 MOSES… A SERVANT OF GOD Moses - A Servant of God

(Revelation 15:3; Hebrews 3:5 ~ Mark 9:1-8 ~ Acts 7:-17-41 ~ Hebrews 11:23-29) ______________________________________________________________________________

OPENING MOSES… a Biblical figure that almost everyone knows something about. Perhaps no other Biblical figure (beside Jesus) has been more frequently portrayed in the media. MOSES… When you hear that name, what words come to mind? If you were playing Pictionary and drew a card with “Moses” written on it, what would you draw?

 Hebrews 11 is considered the “Hall of Faith” and it recounts the greatest heroes of faith. Moses is center stage in this chapter. Read Hebrews 11:23-29 and discuss the following:

o What hard choices did Moses make because of his faith? (11:24-28) o What enabled Moses to persevere through rough times? (11:27) o What can we learn from his example about making touch choices and persevering in hardship? (First two questions adapted from Lesson Maker 8)

BIBLE STUDY & DISCUSSION

 Of all the words used to describe Moses, there is one that stands out. How does God Himself describe Moses according Revelation 15:3 and Hebrews 3:5? God calls Moses a S__________________. That is what each of us is called to be… a servant of God! There is no better compliment from God than to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matt. 25:21) By studying Moses life, we can learn the enduring lessons of a great servant of God!  Moses was not just a servant, but, he was God’s special servant who brought about God’s deliverance for Israel from Egypt. Because of this, the New Testament place incredible significance on his life and influence. The New Testament makes it clear that Moses is a seminal figure in Old Testament. On many occasions, Moses refers to Moses and in one truly incredible instance, Moses appears on the scene. Mark 9:1-8 describes the T______________________ of Jesus. Who appears with Jesus? Why these two individuals? What is the significance of them appearing with Jesus? What does this tell us about the importance of these two figures? As we study the life of Moses, we will see how Moses life points us to Christ!  In Acts 7, the first martyr Stephen is giving his persecutors a Bible history lesson. He reviews the life of Moses in Acts 7:20-39. o According to this account, what are the key stages in Moses’ life:  First 40 years: ___________________________________  Middle 40 years: _________________________________  Last 40 Years: ___________________________________ o What was Moses’ greatest challenge during each period? What did God do in Moses’ life during each period? How did God use each of these stages to prepare Moses for the next stage? As we explore the life of Moses, we can see God’s faithfulness to his servants and learn to trust him in the stages of life we are in!
